Echoing other reviews regarding cleanliness, but the food was pretty good. Salad dressing was a little watery as if it'd been thinned out, but soup was to die for. I got musashi special which came with a small glass of okay plum wine. Good and sweet but a bit mediciney. By the end of the glass it grew on me. One thing I loved is the chef was attentive to food sensitivities, cooking the gluten free meal first on it's own then cooking the rest. Unfortunately that took a lot of time, and our entire experience was over 2 hours. He also cooked veggies separate which took no extra time and allowed people to choose what they wanted - loved that. The rice was great, and made even better by pouring the ginger sauce on top. My steak was delicious, but nothing in comparison to my partners filet mignon. Next time, I'll definitely get the filet. As for cleanliness, there IS thick grease coating the walls, ceilings, and support beams which is a big fire hazard. Bathrooms are disgusting and need updated as well as deep cleaned. Crevice next to hot grill collects old food and grease, and of course bacteria.

Loved sharing a hibachi table with other fun people! It's a great way to socialize. The chef was so fun and put on a great show. The food turned out pretty salty, and there was 4 mishaps with our seating, but once we finally got sat in the right place we were so glad! The people we met were very fun. This is a great place to try at least once. I was not impressed with the bloody Mary but i'm kind of picky about those.

This restaurant is unique. Externally you think that you will be simply enjoying food from another country. The area it is in is fairly urban so it stands out. When you walk in you are struck with how authentic the layout is to the culture. I have rarely seen such a truly authentic setup. The eating experience I did not expect. Austin our cook, was personable and professional. I highly, highly recommend this trip. It is not the cheapest, but it is a good time. Reservations are also a good idea!

Let's make few things clear, this place is not exactly up to date, super clean, and is not real good if you have a special diet (spoiler it's all cooked on one grill). If you are looking for a fun time, good service, and good food this is for you. Been here for 10+ years and has never failed me.

This is seriously the best hibachi I've ever had. And I've had a lot. The staff was super attentive & courteous, the chef was fantastic, and the food was absolutely delicious (very good quality). I very highly recommend you add the fried rice. I promise you won't be sorry. It's the best fried rice I've ever had. The soup at much hibachi restaurants isn't very good, but this soup was so good. I wished I'd had a second bowl. Our table ordered: Filet Mignon (I HIGHLY Recommend; super tender & great quality), Shrimp (delicious), chicken (super good), and the two sauces they provided were amazing. I couldn't recommend this restaurant more. If you're in the Colorado Springs area and you are craving hibachi, or just good quality food, you should consider Musashi.

Food was tasty. Chef was cool. Place is a little dated but cozy. Service was attentive overall. Would definitely recommend and would go again.

This place has always been on par. The food is delicious ( love the sauces! ), the chef is almost always a character and it's just all around fun.

Had the best time celebrating our daughter's birthday at Musashi. Hibachi chef was awesome, so personable. Food was great!

Our chef was excellent, we had steak, chicken, scallops, and shrimp, and the food was so tender that a baby with 4 teeth ate it.

My wife and I have been coming here for years! It is our favorite teppanyaki in the Springs and we have tried them all. Love the fried rice. The steak is always cooked to our liking. We love getting scallops. We know the place needs some updating, repairs, and heavy duty cleaning. We really hope the owner will one day invest in this because it is the biggest complaint for most people. We just try to keep our heads down and enjoy the food and not look up. There is so much over turn with the staff and they are most of the time understaffed. The folks that are there consistently need to be told what a great job they are doing and tipped generously because they are doing the job of multiple people. We appreciate Musashis and all the wonderful times we have had there!

This is my wife's favorite place , the food is always amazing , the chef was fun and good at his job . The entry way and flooring need cleaned .

The food was pretty good but our chef was even better. If you come here please ask for Jeffery. My family had the time of our life because of him. The food was very affordable and the staff was amazing.

I love this place. I've been coming here for years and the food is amazing. Also the price for the food is not bad at all! If I could eat here everyday I totally would! :)

This place is lousy. I've been to way better hibachi places than this, so I do not see what the big whoop is about this filthy, repugnant place. The staff are lazy, rude, and care not for anything that you ask/order for. Don't want beansprouts? That's okay, they will still fill half of your plate with the stuff regardless. Have a large party or did not make a reservation? Sorry, you cannot be seated and have to wait hours even though there are empty hibachi tables. The hostess is disrespectful and uncouth right when you walk in. What a way to show you are not only ugly on the outside, but the inside too. The entire staff seem to be the same way. The chef hardly spoke a word and did any tricks. Our glasses were never filled and plates never taken by the waiters. Customer service? Zero. The food is not even that great. Honestly, maybe people who have never eaten at any other hibachi place may say otherwise, but it is only sub par compared to others in the area. I went straight home and made my own, tastier and better, version of their crappy hibachi. Authentic? Give me a break. The majority staff consisted of caucasians and hardly Japanese. Being caucasian myself, not so much a bad thing, but at least train them better or hire people with actual cooking skills. The interior. Geeze, I could vomit all over my house and it would still look better than this dump. Clean the place up. Get new ceilings and carpets while you're at it. I mean, as much money as people spend going to your dingy restaurant. My advice, stay away from this place if you want to truly have the Japanese hibachi experience. You are most definitely not going to find it here that's for sure. Want lousy cooking and boring, trashy wait staff? Come here, the place reeks of them.

Not impressed. Food was edible but it needs a stiff scrubbing.

Myself and my family have been coming to this restaurant since 1991... I have been to numerous hibachi grills all over the country from Boston to LA. I have never been able to find one that even comes close to the deliciousness this restaurant gives. A waste of money and time to try. Mioko is the best waitress. If you are looking for an uptown swanky hibachi place... no this is not it. It is dark and has the grease stains on everything to prove it has been in business forever... "for a reason" it is a hole in the wall and needs a makeover but has delicious well cooked food. That I seriously drive an hour from Denver to eat at because I wake up craving it. The sushi menu is not very creative it is your average sushi selection, but the sticky rice used melts in your mouth. Haven't found any where that has better Sushi rice. Live this place just saying.

Filthy but tasty, lol!. Like a lot of other folks have said, it needs a remodel! Just have a good look at the ceiling while you wait on your drinks or maybe after you eat if you want to keep your appetite. I have had one problem with the filet being tough but for the most part the food is good and the sauce is fantastic! I wish they had a thumb sideways option because that's what I would use here. I think the decor would be fine if they would just clean and I mean really clean the place. Also it's a one shot deal, don't bother complaining if your food isn't what you were expecting because they don't care. With that being said you have an 80% chance you'll be happy with the food but I'm sure either way you'll agree about the dirt.

Love the food. The entertainment of it has died some over the last 2 years though. No more tossing tools in the air and your lucky to get a full show. The prices have gone insanely up and the ceiling and lamps r nasty. As much as I love the food, they should be shut down temporarily by the health dept and orderes to replace the ceiling tiles and ceiling lamps
Mofolicious
How does the health department allow these folks to remain open.

My husband & I dinned there & was completely dissapointed with the food. For starters it was really dirty & dusty inside, & the grills had food left on them from previous guest. we did not eat the SOUP OR SALAD, they were digusting & so was the aweful sauces. I took two bites of my food & hated it. Only to still get billed for food we did not eat, the owner refused to bargain with us or even try to correct the problem instead all he wanted was money. They are overpriced and flat out wrong for taking our money though we didnt eat their food.
Lou
Just OK. Not great, not bad.. just OK. Place needs a make over for sure. The show was good, the food was good. Overall though I thought for the price I paid(and the fact we now have a small fast food style Hibachi up the road that is actually pretty good for a 1/3 of the price) it should have been better and the place should just be nicer in general.

Get a remodel Musashi, the experience matters when paying good money!!!

Open-minded, but never going back. After a bad customer service over a decade ago, I had no interest in going back. A friend arranged a big get together at Musashi tonight, so no worries, give the place another chance, right? Unfortunate venue. No table seating until our entire 10-person party showed up, though they weren't busy. Our waitress was attentive and our chef was not. Water refills often, menu items missing, greasy, or foul. My husband got grisly steak instead of the filet mignon he ordered. My tuna sushi had a mushy texture and metallic flavor. When I asked to exchange the 90% left on my plate for something else, I got an angry man yelling at me that I had already eaten and the fish was received yesterday. I smiled, handed the waitress the plate, and got half off my meal. No apologies, no trying to make it right. I picked buttery mushrooms off my husband's plate and spat out beef fat chunks that were indistinguishable from the rest of the brown melange... We've been to hibachis before, and this one was the worst. Investment in good customer service, entertaining chefs, and quality food is important, in my opinion. Environment is secondary. By the way, if you go, watch how they wipe counters with one continuous motion with a nasty rag and how the metal spatula goes from raw chicken to cooked beef to your plate... I'm anticipating a looong night.

Hibachi and Sushi only. My wife and I stopped in Musashi last night searching for something lighter and thinking it would be similar to other Japanese places that did the whole Hibachi/Sushi/Entree thing. I was actually surprised to find that they only did the Hibachi Grill and their sushi bar was somewhat of an afterthought, being used primarily to add an extra option to their dinners. What was even more surprising was the amount of smoke in the hallway and whole restaurant for that matter.

Before I get into the food, I do have to say that I agree with other reviewers in that this restaurant needs a makeover. It is very dim on the inside (which is why none of my pictures turned out) which is ok for certain ambience, but the dimness coupled with no windows creates a smaller and darker atmosphere. The fans above the hibachi grills definitely need replaced because they are extremely underpowered, allowing smoke to fill the restaurant. I'm sure my coat that I brought in is going to continue smelling like Hibachi Grill for at least 3 days.
As for the food, it is fairly simple Hibachi fare. No frills here, you can choose from chicken, steak, filet mignion, scallops, shrimp and lobster (market pricet). I've been to other Hibachi Grills where they will have something creative on the menu to stand out like calamari or salmon, but like I said, don't expect to find frills on the menu. The prices are right around the prices of other Hibachi's in town, but they'll start dinging you on extras right away if you're not careful. Want your chicken or steak to be terriyaki? Extra $. Want fried rice instead of steamed white rice? Extra $. And so on.

The Hibachi Chefs do a fairly standard song-and-dance to prepare your food. They catch your plate on fire which isn't something I have seen a these kind of places. Overall, the Hibachi chefs get the job done and get friendlier if you talk to them more. The servers, on the other hand, are either very overworked or very lazy, as our drinks continually went unfilled in excess of 5 minutes. We even had to wait a very long time to place our order.

But in the end, this place seems to have a fairly unique atmosphere combined with an above average Hibachi dinner. On top of that, there seemed to be a large amount of Asian folk at every table which proved to me that it should be good food, haha.

Not quite benihana but still good.

Not that great. I've been to many Japanese steakhouses all over the country and Musasi's just isn't that good. There was a long wait, the food was eh, ok, but certainly nothing to write home about.
Arianne James
Always enjoyable. This place never sounds good to me and I usually have to be dragged there, but once I'm there I am never disappointed! The food is good, the show entertaining. The waitstaff is a bit lax; I think they rely on the cooks to earn their tips for them. But all in all a good overall experience.
Thumbs up.

Here's the deal.. I like it, the food is decent and the show is pretty fun but..
This place needs a makeover and some professional cleaners to get at it. It is retro to say the least and there is grease everywhere and the carpet might possibly have never been vacuumed. Also we had a server (not cook) with a fake accent which was funny and everything but also awkward. I think if they did a nice remodel or even moved to a new location they would be very busy, even after all that I would still eat there because the food is good and the bar takes you back to when Bruce Lee movies where new!

Tip: don't argue the fact that you ordered diet soda and got regular, you are WRONG!! You will drink the sugar filled soda!!
Travis Provin
Interesting place, food was pretty good which is nice because this is a place you go to for the entertainment and experience. Not somewhere you go to every weekend but is fun on special occasions

Used to be good. For 10 years we went to Musashi once or twice a year. It was great and entertaining. The food was great, especially for the price. It did always irritate me that they didn't have free refills on sodas, but I could live with it (and sometimes snuck in my own bottle to refill myself!) The "shows by the chefs was great. However, the past few times have been lacking.

The chefs have almost no experience and no entertainment skills. I don't know if they had a huge turnover in chefs, but it has been bad for at least the past year. They don't have enough experience to even cook the food right, much less all of the fire and flipping of knives/eggs. We are now trying other Japanese grills in town.

This place is amazing! Good food and I love the show. Only problem I had: we were only given chopsticks. Kinda difficult to eat fried rice with chopsticks......

Worst dining experience EVER. I took my girlfriend here before she went to Germany to visit her family for a month over the Christmas break believing that it would be a nice evening. Ive been here before and never had a problem. However tonight was different. As soon as we walked in one of the employees saw me starting laughing and pointing at me to the other employees. He apparently had a problem with one of my friends when i was in high school several years ago and instead of leaving it in the past brought it all back to light. Soon enough all the other employees, prep cooks and bussers were staring at us making us feel uncomfortable because of whatever reason. As soon as our cook came to prepare our food he did nothing but insult me. Long story short he made my girlfriend cry out of anger and frustration and nothing was taken care of or done about it. The owner actually made jokes thinking it was funny and didnt offer to comp anything at all. I work in a restaurant and have for the past 5 years so i know how the industry works. The whole night was a joke, the cook the bussers the owners and the service all sucked. I will never return and if you value your loved ones dont go here they dont have any respect for their customers. Dont give them any of your money or time. Sad excuse for a business. Totally unprofessional.

This is the only Japanese restaurant that I will eat at in CO Springs!! The food is fantastic, and the performance is entertaining. The sushi is great too!!
Joy G.
Meh. For quite some time, this was the only teppan place in town, so they didn't have to try very hard to be "special" and it shows. There are way better options than this dark, run of the mill experience. The food was ok, but could have been much better. Been there twice, won't try them again.

If you are looking for fresh and high quality food and service, look no more. The best place to get sushi as well as tepan. Love the food and service and will definately go back.

Fun and nummy. A very good teppenyaki place. Fun, great mai tais and good food. I was a little disappointed the last time I went, but in general you can count on being satisfied and having fun doing it.
Kickrocks
Entertaining and satisfying.. This was a great place. I just went there the other night and was very pleased with the service. We were seated as soon as we walked in and it did not take them long to take our order. I will say that the food items are a tad on the pricey side, but their sushi prices are very reasonable -- all of which tasted very good and was satisfying. The cooks (who cook food right in front of you) are very entertaining and personable people. Overall, a great place to bring the family for good food and a show. Will consider coming here again.
