Excellent Italian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. The reason you are asked to make a reservation I was told is because the owner makes the pasta fresh every day and needs to know how many guests to expect. A little quirky I know but most definitely worth it. Incidentally I have never seen anyone turned away who didn’t have a reservation. Highly recommend.

Passed this gem a million times. It's a nice stop for a bit of Italian. A homey atmosphere with a good service. Would definitely eat here again

Tried to get a reservation for our 54th wedding anniversary, no one answered. We were passing it on our way to Driscolls at 4:30, and no cars there. My husband knocked on the door, and no one answered. He called and told them we were out front. No one there eating, but told us we could come to eat at 6:30. We left and had a great meal at Driscolls.

I've been there when the place is completely empty and they asked if I have a reservation. Very pretentious for a place that used to be an f'n Dairy Queen. The food and service are average.

I was really pleasantly surprised. Taken here by a friend for lunch. Feels old-school Italian inside. Old-school decor, Sinatra, Martin and others providing the music. However, the salad was freshly prepared and delicious. Lots of items in it, tasty dressing. Freshly baked bread. The pasta was out of this world as was the home-made cheesecake. Best of all, the server was super nice and attentive. I'll be back.

Our first time at Francescos. My friends love it and told us how good it was for us to try it. We finally did and it is such a cute place. Friendly workers and the food is all homemade and delicious! We will definitely be going back. It is so nice to go to a family owned restaurant where they are so welcoming and serve quality food. The crab appetizer was amazing! He loved his pasta and homemade meatballs. I had the homemade manicotti and it was superb.

The biggest problem is getting into the restaurant's parking lot. You have to be doing on 51South. It's very small and we didn't know that they prefer reservations. I wasn't blown away by the appetizers or their sauce, but my salmon was very, very tasty and cooked correctly. The salad comes family style and there was plenty of it. The bread was good, warm. The red sauce tasted like it had a lot of wine in it and was very cooked down. Our waitress was friendly and those at the other tables seemed to all be comfortable, familiar and enjoying themselves.

Make sure you call to have a reservation. Food is delicious, with classic Italian dishes, fresh made sauces and excellently seasoned meats. Wine portions are very generous and my family and I frequent it often. My favorite Italian restaurant in the Pittsburgh area!
