We came here for the Taco Week (Oct 9). Even on Monday, the place got pretty busy very quick after opening (at 11 AM). Of course we had tacos. They were very good. The chicken tacos were too salty in my opinion. We also had the salsa. They were OK. The service was very quick. You came in to order, and took a sign for your food to be delivered to your table.
Pleasantly surprised to find a real authentic Mexican restaurant versus Texas mex. Outdoor seating in the open air or sun room is available. Parking in the front or back of building as it gets busy for lunch for sure.
Order at the door, don't forget to order chip bar if you want that sort of thing as they don't have the unlimited chips at the table.
I had the 3 taco mix of pork, steak, and chorizo... All were very very good. I'll be back for sure!
I give 4 stars on atmosphere only because I wish there was beer on tap.
I've always had a great time here since they opened. It's casual and relaxed and the food is always delicious and fun. Grabbed lunch with my daughter and tried a few delectables. We had the chicken and vegetarian tacos as well as the pasole, hope I spelled that right. Help yourself bottles of soda or beers are a great compliment to this food.
Mazunte is an all time favorite. The food has incredible flavor and the portions are satisfying all while still being affordable. They get bonus points too because their vegetarian options are plentiful!
My wife and I recently visited while on vacation and were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant with authentic Mexican food. The tamales were delicious and the salsa verde they put on the tamales was also very good. They had a salsa bar and their hottest one packed a punch that took me a little by surprise. They also sell aguas frescas, which I got. They agua de limon tasted homemade and was an excellent accompaniment to my food.
The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. If you're ever in Cinci, you need to come visit Mazunte!
. Food at this little taco place was amazing and delicious! I had a Chicken Enchilada, served Verde style (green chile sauce). It was SO good- I savored every bite.
. My drink, Agua de Limon (limeade, non-alcoholic), was tasty and quite refreshing- not too tart and not too sweet.
. And a side order of Queso Fundido (melted cheese dip) and chips was also good. This was a large portion of Queso, definitely shareable.
. The atmosphere in the small dining area was not great. It felt like a dive bar- dark, with lots of exposed concrete and very uncomfortable square wood stools. There was a ton of loud mechanical noise- fans, refrigeration units, and something metallic rattling.
But the food is amazing.
. There are tents for outdoor dining, and I would recommend you try dining out there in good weather. There would be more light, less noise, and the outdoor chairs had backs!
The day I visited was 95+ degrees, so I opted to stay inside.
. The restaurant sign is hard to see from Madison Road, because the tents block the view of it. But the restaurant is located just to the left of the Edward Jones offices.
. Give this delicious restaurant a try!
Had been to Mazunte several years ago and been waiting for an opportunity to try it again. I was staying in the area for a few days and went for dinner. Ordered tacos (pork, steak and chicken) and tamales and their salsa bar. Better than I even remembered it being. It was ALL fantastic--the pork taco being my favorite. The tamales were also moist and tasted freshly made rather than dried out and defrosted and steamed. The salsas were also amazing, hard to pick my favorite, but the habanero was on point without burning my tongue off. Not a ton of seating even with additional seating now. On a weekend I imagine it's next to impossible to get a seat. Can't wait to eat here again.
I got the beer battered fish tacos and my husband got a blue corn pork quesadilla. He lived in Mexico for years and he gave it a 4.5/5 and says the only thing missing was stuff he could add to the quesadilla. Like salsa, onions, cilantro. Just toppings. Flavor was good but it could have tasted better with some toppings. The rice was really good.
First trip to Mazunte and it did not disappoint. Great value, great food, great atmosphere, great service. What’s not to like about this place? Got the chorizo enchilada ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In town for work and stopped with local co-worker who recommended it. I was very pleased with flavor of the tacos and salsas. The asada was tender, chorizo flavorful and the fish was light and not too heavy of a fried taste. There’s a couple nice outdoor seating areas as well. I am excited to go back and try more along with a Margarita!
