I had a wonderful experience here Thursday evening. The bartender and backing staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. High quality and tasty cocktails along with a small yet versatile selection of snacks. Pleasant atmosphere that’s dimly lit and tastefully decorated. I plan to return and recommend to friends!
Idk it’s like a Chill dead poets society atmosphere with comfy chairs and a Midwestern (upscale) basement vibe — some say 👀. I enjoyed the not so “secret” entrance. They have unique drink menus with themes like The Good Place. Bonus: truffle popcorn and games and a funky cool Bart red bands Logan — he gives the tastes.
Excellent customer service. Came in on a Thursday evening night. Bartender, Logan made me a custom order because I wasn’t sure about any of the cocktails on the menu.
His presence was perfect he did not hover however was friendly and welcoming. Didn’t pressure us to order drink or food.
Everything was effortlessly easy and made for an especially pleasant experience. Will definitely becoming back more often.
A cool basement bar under Pops Champaign bar on the corner of State and Ohio. Upon entering Pops tell the host you want the Watershed, you'll be directed to go to the right back side and take the stairs under the big "W"
You'll be treated to a very relaxed atmosphere and drinks.

Honestly, this was one of my fave spots during my recent trip to the city which I found while researching for speakeasies. The BEST people behind the bar (shoutout to Maggie, Logan, JT, and Colin) who chatted earnestly of their love of Malort against the dulcet screamo tones of MCR and Fall Out Boy. Met some new friends who live close by and visit often. Even had a little taste of caviar as a midnight snack. Got very Dead Poets Society meets Cheers vibes here. I'll be thinking of these folks and this bar for a while yet. When I go back to Chicago, it'll be one of the first spots I head to.
Unlike their neighbors upstairs watershed understands their customer base, and what it takes to welcome their customers.
The servers/bartenders are down to earth, friendly, and most of all relatable. They can make a stiff consistent drink every time. Their knowledge on their selection is adamant.
The decor is a little uninspiring, but the kicker is that’s the beauty of it. It is suppose to be a retro basement that leaves little awe.
Will definitely stop by every time I️ am in town.
Super chill bar, great cocktails (and themes! They’re doing The Good Place-themed drinks right now), and they let you request music
Had a great time having drinks in a low-key speakeasy style bar. The staff were incredible and hilarious! Logan and Steve behind the bar made our night super fun and welcoming. We'll be back for sure when we're in town.
You actually have to enter Pops first to get to this place. Reminds me of my basement from the 70’s—-but in a good way. Small space inside but servers are super friendly. Only downside is that for a bar that advertises a selection of local craft beer, most selections were out of stock and midweek to boot. Also only 2 beers on draft. More of a cocktail place if you like cozy and nostalgic.
Really happy this place is here. Normally I don’t want to write a review for a place I only went to once but I’m really happy we went here.
After I appease my wife by taking her upstairs I prefer a place with a chill vibe, fun cocktails, and comfortable chairs (that aren’t high-tops).
The guys working the Saturday night were super chill. Asked our names, talked about getting good deals on glassware, where to get a good smash burger, and (of course) D&D.
Mezcal cocktails went down way too smooth, can’t want to go back and get more.
