What a wonderful place! Ambience great and the food even better. A disk jockey up front and families with children scattered about, all enjoying a one-of-a-kind adventure. The menu was a varied mix of small plates and (very) large feasts, of vegan, seafood, and meat. Anyone who loves food will love Beatnik. And the staff communicate the same joie de vivre.
The Place
Located at 1604 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL . The Beatnik is a bohemian cocktail bar and restaurant that offers guests warm and rich interior, luxurious décor and old-world charm. Overall a charming, romantic, and relaxing atmosphere. Ample seating and very spacious. The chandeliers from a California hotel and are really ornate and the hand carved Teak wall facade from Bali was magnificent.
The Menu
Unique menu offerings give way to ordering a plethora of ordering options. We started off with a couple glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon and an Equatorial Gathering. Our wine was excellent but I wouldn't order the gathering again. We chose to try many items off the Mezze (appetizer) menu. Spaghetti squash salad, grilled asparagus, potatoes 3 ways, fried baby egg plant, confit Amish chicken, and rabbit arepa. All were very good but the egg plant was amazing and the rabbit was done to perfection. Overall these offerings afforded us a nice taste of what the Beatnik has to offer.
The Experience/Service/ Value
We had a great time and our service was excellent. Our waitress recommended the baby egg plant and it was amazing. Very good value and a wonderful experience. I recommend the Beatnik without reservation.
We went here for a brunch with the girls. The the obvious of the decor is beautiful there's an indoor section and then an outdoor patio area where the roof opens the plants the seating the bohemian style absolutely beautiful. Definitely great for photos. There is street parking very helpful. The food was pretty decent. I had the chicken and waffles. It was pretty good smaller portions for sure for the price. Also the Mediterranean salad was delicious and the avocado toast. The hummus was delicious. Steak with eggs was also good and salmon toast. One of the ladies had the lamb, it was just OK it wasn't flavorful. Service was OK. Little on the slow side. Our server didn't come back and ask us if we wanted more drinks since we already had ordered one alcoholic drink while we were there. The drinks were very tasty and had a nice spike to them. We only got one round which the waiter could have definitely gotten more drinks out of us, if he came back around to check on us or ask us if we wanted more drinks . But it looked like he was the only one serving along with another young lady that was helping him bring the food out. I would definitely go back to try that dinner menu.
I recently enjoyed brunch at this establishment. The interior decorations are not only stunning but also create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. If you're someone who values a pleasing environment, this restaurant is a must-visit.
As for the culinary aspect, in my opinion, it was decent. The portion size was slightly smaller than I had anticipated, but the flavors were delicious. While their brunch menu may not boast an extensive array of dishes, they certainly have some of the most popular brunch dishes.
Creative takes on Middle Eastern food that’s well executed in a welcoming and refined-but-fun setting. Stunning decor, brought in from around the world, provides a unique dining experience. Each spot in the restaurant offers something to love: dark-paneled wood for a cozy, more somber evening or the bright light of a large skylight with plenty of plants nearby. Some top picks on the menu: get the baba, the Lebanese lamb feast, and do not sleep on the crispy artichoke (a word whose etymology is fascinating - look it up ahead of your meal). Arrive early for the bar, whose cocktails include both originals and fun takes on classics.
Beatnik was amazing !
We made reservations and were seated almost immediately after walking in. Our waiter arrived and began reviewing the menu offering a few suggestions. We finally decided to order drinks and the small plate route to share amongst the table.
Our drinks were delicious. Each one was incredibly flavourful and caught each one of us off guard. They were delicious !
Our food order came shortly after and was more than enough for the table. We also ordered sorbet for dessert.
Our experience here was very pleasant. The music and decor were awesome. The food and drinks were even better !
Food was delicious! The lamb was tender and falling off the bone. Loved the atmosphere. Great place for a dinner date.
This place is so cool looking. The cocktails were legit crafted, we loved the salted watermelon mojito. Portions are pretty good sized.
We visited here from Wisconsin to celebrate my birthday the food was soooo good! Our server was amazing! This restaurant is just overall beautiful and everyone was friendly. Thank you for helping me celebrate!!
Loved it. Cool vibe, easy parking and great food. We did brunch and would do it again if we lived in Chicago. Friendly staff and shout out to the hostess from the DMV area 😁 Thank you!
Overall great experience. For the most part the food was good. The lamb dinner and mushrooms on skewer were delicious.
Hummus and drinks were good.
Fried artichokes were a bit hard to eat.
Their was a long piece of hair in the dates that ended up in my mouth. Bit if a turn of.
Aside from that, great atmosphere & great service.
Bottom line: Eclectic. Great ambience, delicious food. Will come again.
Really great dining experience. Lots of different options and a great Mediterranean flair. It didn't seem like there was a miss in any of the dishes we tried. The baba ganoush was particularly vibrant with fresh pita.
Nice wine selection and service was good.
