Wimpy's Diner

What sticks out as a bad memory is the extremely long and unacceptable wait time we had to go through for our orders. We ordered Waffle Fries ($6), Wimpy's Famous Burger ($10.99), and 2 LB Chicken Wings & Fries ($26.99). The server mentioned that what took too long was the wings which they still had to prepare and cook. For something like a quick serve diner, there should be no reason for having to wait upwards of 35 minutes or so for an order. We had to see other guests come in later than us, but receive their food order ahead of us. When the food came, it was ordinary and typical. Nothing for it to stand out and differentiate from other similar establishments. It was fried and greasy. The burger looked good with its multiple patties stacked on top of each other, but the meat was not actually as juicy and it can be. The taste was actually a little bland. The saving grace of the whole ordeal was at least our server acknowledged that it was late and taking too long. She gave us a couple of fries orders to somewhat make up for the wait time we had to endure. All throughout our eating time, she was also very helpful and accommodating. I wanted to have a positive experience dining here, but the long wait time ruined it for me. It could have been worse, but at least the service somewhat made up for it.

I've been to Wimpy's a few times, mostly with my son and his girlfriend, as I did yesterday. Outdoor dining also available since covid. Waiters are authentically friendly and efficient. Food is pretty good, servings are often too big... more than necessary. I don't like the waste of food. I've seen them pick up plates from tables with enough left over for another small meal. Too bad. Great coffee! The setting is 1950's restaurant decor. Jukebox, booths or regular seating. Very cool. Main problem is that Bathrooms really suck badly. Really tiny, and not wheelchair accessible. In fact, son and girlfriend live in power wheelchairs...they can't even get into the washrooms. Not cool at all. All in all, though, nice place to eat.

Ordered the 2 pce fish dinner Fri, Apr 8th, 2022. The fish was small shriveled up and overcooked, super greasy. The last time I ordered the fish was a nice size in fresh batter and was delicious. It was so overcooked the fish was super dry and it was super small portions. Because of this experience I will not be ordering fish and chips from Wimpy's again. They should not have allowed that dinner to even be served. Terrible experience. I would give them a negative star review if I could.

Update: after a year, I tried it again. The fries were soggy, the burger was okay, but big, but again expensive! Way too expensive! The pancakes were bad. They tasted like they were made with whole wheat flour. Yuck. The eggs tasted like meat. Weird! I will not return. ..... The burger and fries are delicious! I had a fountain drink and it lacked flavor, not very good pop. But that TexMex burger was very delicious. The prices are outrageous though! One burger combo cost $20!! Yikes!!! For this reason, we probably won't come very often. But one day we'll get the burger again. Maybe we will try the big burger and split it. We had the small one and that one was still a good size. The waitress was nice too.

Wimpys is a first choice restaurant for my family and I, in Chatham. The food is always delicious, good serving sizes, and always fresh! What I love most aside from the food, is the excellent, friendly service. All staff are always smiling and welcoming. I think management does a wonderful job in all aspects of running Wimpys and has a great rapport with customers. 15/10 recommend, you won't be disappointed!
