I am originally from the Charlotte area, now living in New England. I just tried this place on a recent trip home after having stumbled across their Instagram page. I had very high expectations going in, and Fu Man Chu did not disappoint. We tried 6 different cupcakes, all amazing. They were delicious and unique. Some people find $5 for a cupcake to be “pricey”, but I believe you get what you pay for. In an age where we pay $15 for a craft cocktail, I say what’s the difference? These cupcakes are finely crafted by a small local business. They’re not run of the mill BS you can get at Harris Teeter. They were worth every penny in my book, and I will be back for more every time I’m in Charlotte. Keep up the good work!
Lemme preface this review by letting you know I'm NOT a sweet eater. Somehow I left this place with three cupcakes and a cookie all for myself. The cookie was gone by the time I got to the car. A cupcake was gone by the time I got home. And I downed a second cupcake before I could write this review.
The texture. Ahhhhmazing. Soft and moist. The flavor profile? Outstanding! The service was impeccable. I may have to develop a sweet tooth just so I can keep coming back.
Fantastic place- locally owned with owners working- really friendly. We visited late night. Absolutely delish cupcakes ranging from no alcohol added (we did not sample- but looked great) to super infused. All were well balanced.
This place has delicious booze infused cupcakes. And Also non-boozey ones too. I love me a Manhattan so had to try that flavor and it didn’t disappoint. Will definitely stop in again and again

Had myself an oatmeal raisin cookie sandwich complete with rum raisins and White Russian frosting. It was enormous and absolutely delicious.
I love the creativity of this place and that they’re open for after dinner dessert.
We stopped in after dinner for something sweet. The owners were outside and when we were debating who was going to wait with our dog while the other picked their flavor, they graciously allowed her inside with us. The cupcakes hadn't had time to come to room temperature, so they gave us a coupon for our next visit. We had the salted caramel with bacon and the rose cupcakes. Both delicious and our pup loved the bacon pieces. Great people and great cupcakes.
Amazing cupcakes! Never had cupcakes with alcohol but they were excellent. I got the Irish Car Bomb cupcake. Owner was working that night and was super friendly. And he has an epic FuManChu , worthy of naming his shop after.
I ordered a dozen and a half cupcakes for a co-workers birthday party. The alcohol themed cupcakes were a huge hit. I asked for a surprise variety. The only disappointment was that our salted caramel didn't have the bacon on it like I see in all the pictures online. The favorites were the Margarita and the Old Fashion. The unique flavors and quality ingredients justify the price.
First time visitors tonight. We bought 11 and he gave us one for free. Each cupcake had a distinct flavor and being an Irish girl I was super excited to see they had a cupcake with Jameson and Guiness in the ingredients!!!! Do yourself a favor, visit this shop and try the Irish car bomb cupcake, it’s my favorite!!! All 12 cupcakes were amazing, our children enjoyed their cupcakes too (they have cupcakes that don’t contain alcohol for children) The owner was friendly and the shop was well decorated and clean. I have zero complaints and we will be back!!!
We were so lucky to have FuManChu do our wedding cupcakes in October. Andy was wonderful to work with. I have a dairy allergy so he recrafted my favorite cupcake to be dairy free! He is so easy to work with and of course everyone loved the cupcakes. I would highly recommend FuManChu to everyone. Thanks Andy!
