Our first visit from Winston-Salem and certainly not our last. My wife is Korean and I'm Chinese; we know good food and eat out extensively. Bulgogi Box is an "uptown" upgrade of traditional Korean that takes classic cuisines up a couple of notches through artistically presentations of full-flavored dishes. We can tell that the quality and freshness of the ingredients used enhances the meal. Expensive, but not super-expensive; quality does cost more and well worth it. We ordered some of everything and nothing disappointed. The beef Bulgogi was noteworthy with better flavor than a place we had frequented closer to our daughter's place in Matthews. No corners cut here; typical Asian restaurants tend to cheat wherever they can to maximize profits.
We were driving to a different restaurant when we passed Bulgolgi Box unexpectedly. Pulled over immediately, as I spent a month in South Korea before and I absolutely love Korean food. Great service & atmosphere, and the food is definitely outstanding! So far we had the Bulgogi Box, Bi Bib Bowl, Korean Fried Chicken Bowl, Kimchi, Dumplings and salad. It is our new favorite place to go and can not get enough. My boyfriend and I will keep coming back as well as we completely recommend this place to others!
Fantastic experience! The Korean Hotdogs were very delicious and the bibim.
Matt, our server and the host, was absolutely great as well! He was very attentive and was there for any questions.
Any reviews that talk about the host experience being bad is completely untrue
Some of the best food I've ever had. The corn dogs were delicious!!! Definitely worth the 1 hrs 15 min drive. Will be back soon!
The chef was hilarious and the food was flavorful. Great hostess, friendly. Loved outdoor dining enjoying great foods on mini date with hubby!
A contemporary take on Korean cuisine. There's a full bar and a few tables outside in front.
Like a lot of places now, the menu is completely online, which is fine except it was a little cumbersome scrolling through the choices on a little phone screen. It's not obvious when the server offers kimchee for a side that there's an upcharge.
2 of us shared the smoked fish sausage "Korean corn dog", but the sausage was very small and we'd probably not order it again for $6.
The dinner entrees all start at $15 (lunch seems to be generally a dollar cheaper). For the same price of $16.50, we preferred the BB wrap over the Korean Fried Chicken Bowl. Anything tastes good in a scallion pancake, whereas the "fried chicken" was just ok.
I eat and cook a lot of Asian food, so I'm pretty picky when it is $$. Might try it again and just get the wrap, depending on how easy it is to find parking in South End!
Excellent food and service. I took my wife and kids and everyone really enjoyed their meals. We got beef bulgogi, bibim bowl, spicy pork wrap and bulgogi fried rice. We also got the ribs and corn dogs appetizers. Wish I had pictures to share because the presentation is very classy. Highly recommend.
Delicious! My husband and I both got the Bimbim Bowl with beef and kimchi as our side. The kimchi was perfect. The bowls were stone bowls so the food stayed nice and hit the whole time. All the textures and flavors went wonderfully together. HIGHLY recommend. Our server was very friendly and helpful as well. Would definitely go back.
Atmosphere is nice. But the music is a bit loud. And it is small. All the flavors are amazing. The Statff are friendly. The food is cooked to order. Expect $20 a person. The food is wonderful; the b.b. Wrap needed more sauce but still it was awesome. The fries are on another level! The seasoning and fry sauce is wonderful. Slightly over priced though. But in all a good treat.
Like other reviews, the food served in this restaurant was not bad at all. It tasted homemade korean style food like bulgogi and spicy pork. The korean style chciken appetizer also good. Recommend to eat here. Note: the spicy pork is a little bit spicy.
I got the Korean bulgogi box, potstickers, kimchi, Korean fried chicken bowl and the blueberry julep. Delicious meal, the server Matt H was awesome. Great conversations with him, he was pretty cool. We sat outside and the bugs were annoying... That was the only bad part
This has been my favorite restaurant for years now. I've gone quite a few times and I don't think it's ever not been great, though the korean fried chicken bowl is definitely my favorite. The portions are good, too. I usually leave with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Plan out parking before you go, because parking anywhere in southend can be hard.
