I lived in Cedar Lake for three years now and just found out about the restaurant in the back. Wow what a find! I just tried the steak burrito and it was the best burrito I've ever had. I would highly recommend La Gaviota Supermercado.

Excellent food here. When they bring the salsa out its mild with a salsa verde and a habanero giving the customer a choice to increase the heat level. I ordered the carne asada which was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Very friendly staff here. I felt appreciated as a guest and will definitely be coming back.

Hidden gem in Cedar Lake. We like $5 Taco Tuesdays where you get 3 tacos of your choice. I really like the bean burritos as well though sometimes I get charged extra for the avocado and sometimes they tell me it's included. Hm. Mushroom quesadilla used to be my favorite then it started getting made too spicy so I stopped ordering it. Still tasted good, just not a spicy kinda gal. Have yet to frequent the grocery side of the business but maybe one day!

Wonderful little spot for basic Mexican staples. The $5 Taco Tuesday deal is the best bang for the buck in the area. (Al pastor with onions and cilantro for me, please!) The chips and salsa are a cut above the norm, too. Friendly staff. I try to miss the lunch rush, so I can usually order, eat and pay in less than 20 mins. The attached grocery is pretty great for a wide range of Mexican seasonings, and the butcher/deli is pretty well stocked. You can get everything you need here to put on your own BANGING taco night.

This is a great family owned establishment. We have known the family and employees for years. We often dine as well as shop there. My wife and I like the menudo and posole on Saturday mornings. They started out small many years ago and now they are one of the more popular places to be. Try it, you'll like it!

Make the drive out there for the marinated arrachera. It's so good and worth not having to do the prep, just the grilling!
