We were in Palm Springs last week and really enjoyed a nice family lunch at Don and Sweet Sue's - so much so that we went back the next day for Breakfast. The service was great, attentive and quick. The restaurant itself was quiet and relaxed - not at all noisy and overcrowded. The food was very tasty and great value for the money. Did I mention they have All Day Breakfast? Yum. The kids loved the pancakes shaped like Mickey Mouse.
My wife and I are visiting the area and I found this great place on urbanspoon. The service was good, the place was clean, they had a nice outdoor seating area with cool mist blowing to keep you cool. The food was great! The portions are large, and the price is right!
The service was average, maybe a little slow but nothing terrible. We had the sourdough French toast, which was pretty average, and the Shamrock, which if u like hash, was very good. Overall a family atmosphere with pretty good food. Overall grade: B
Amazing. Great service. Large portions and wonderful crispy hash browns.
Great breakfast. I really liked this place. I had the belgian waffles and a side of bacon, both of which were very good. My dining companion had the blueberry pancakes and was very pleased. The service was very good as well. I would definitely return.
Found this place using urbanspoon! Food was good not anything special, just your typical diner food. But it was definitely better than any chain restaurant. Seating was VERY cozy (be prepared to meet your neighbor). The staff was very attentive even with a full dining room. My coffee cup was never empty! Overall, we were satisfied!
I've been hesitant to go to this (very pleasant!) restaurant - their radio theme song droves me nuts. Silly me - Don & Sweet Sue's is a truly sweet place for breakfast. Even on a late Sunday morning, we were seated quickly, and the service was excellent; the food was every bit the equal. Add this cafe to your short list of must-do restaurants in the Coachella Valley - totally worth any drive!
My favorite place for breakfast.
It's a Time Warp.. Don and Sweet Sue's Cafe is like stepping back in time for service, friendliness of staff (lots of staff) and just good cooking. Their prices are modern but worth every cent. They have a fairly extensive menu such as the best chicken fried steak with "homemade" country gravy and hashbrowns that were grated just before they hit the fire. Try it, I think that you too will be impressed.
I love everything about this diner. It’s old school in the best of ways. Huge menu, good portions and somehow tastes like Mom made it. The special seafood omelette is a must try. It’s a perfect blending of ingredients and I keep coming back for it. The staff is fast, courteous, friendly and make you feel right at home. I wish I had ordered the bowl of soup and not the cup. My soul was warmed with each bite. No seriously. If you haven’t been put it on your list of must try places in Palm Springs!
Adorable yet fancy little cafe to sit down and eat. Food is about $15 per plate, but portions are pretty decent/big compared to large chain restaurants, so the price is fair in that aspect. I got the Eggs Florentine - poached eggs on an English muffin topped with spinach and hollandaise sauce - and 2 buttermilk pancakes that were the size of the plate. Definitely going to come back!
Everyone was so friendly, grateful and fun! The food had a down-home flavor with the restaurant being a hometown feel! A must try! Tim was funny all waitresses had a sense of humor with love 💘
Good food and decent prices. I was put off because they charged a fee for using a credit card.
You are a business and this is a cost for doing business. Do not pass it on to your customers!!!
Unfortunately it was reflected in my too to the good server.
1st time at Don and Sweet Sue's restaurant. Love the old time layout and feel. The whole staff was super friendly and the service was really fast. On top of that, they have excellent menu items, and our breakfast tasted really good. We are looking forward to going back.
Whenever we're in the Palm Springs area, we come here. We try to visit on a Friday for the clam chowder. I had the chowder and the meatloaf lunchtime deal. $20 for a cup of chowder and then meatloaf with mash potatoes and sweetcorn all smothered in gravey. Delicious! All the staff are friendly and helpful. You can sit indoors or on the patio. This really is a diner that stands out. Be warned they are only open till 3pm. Closed on Mondays.
Great place for breakfast and lunch. The service was excellent! Very nice wait staff. The food was was really good! It was the off season, early August and very hot weather but they were still packed on a Sunday morning. This is where the LOCALS GO!
Great breakfast spot and great burgers for lunch. The pancakes are huge and light and fluffy. Greek bacon! Coffee was just a little weak but acceptable. Love going here and the staff it’s incredibly friendly and helpful.
Food was great! Staff is exceptionally friendly, definitely recommend
Clean Diner atmosphere, attentive service and good food, I'll be back.
