Absolutely loved this place!! All of the menu items sounded delicious, but I ultimately chose the Breakfast Mazemen and loved it! The Tako Yaki was also great. The staff was incredibly friendly and even talked with our table for a bit. Would highly recommend!
I have never gone to a Ramen restaurant before so I don't know how most of them work. This one you walk up to the counter and order your food and pay. They then give you a buzzer that goes off when your order is ready.
I ordered Butter Corn Shoyu Ramen. I've never had real Ramen before so this was all new to me. I'm not sure how your supposed to eat it, but I stirred it all up and then used a fork to grab some noodles. I then used the small ladle to scoop some broth and other ingredients to noodles in my mouth. Right way or very wrong way, I don't know. However it was very good to excellent. The noodles were delicious, the broth was superb, the bamboo strips were odd, and corn was excellent. It was much more filling then I initially thought it would be and overall I was very impressed.
As to the rating I don't have any apple to apple comparisons. So for now I give 4 and half stars, which I'm rounding up to 5. Maybe in the future I'll have to change it when I have more comparisons. Would I return? Absolutely!
I’m in GR on business and stumbled on Sapporo by accident. I LOVE this place! Service is super friendly and suggested items for me to try. The Ramen was some of the best I’ve had anywhere. Especially for a cold day! I will make this place a regular stop every time I return to GR. The city itself hasn’t seemed very friendly as a whole but this is a great change from everything I saw here.
The food was delicious! And the staff was so kind in helping me find options that work with my allergies & giving me options. My family & I thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The atmosphere is cozy and very clean.
Our go to Ramen place, the wife has been coming here for years. The broth is very rich, and if Ramen is not something you enjoy they have other great dishes on offer.
This place, hands down, has the best spicy ramen I can find. Literally, go here on break from work, maybe once a week! The ugly pop and spicy pork bowls are also amazing 👏🏾
Been here many times love the chill atmosphere and amazing food. Highly recommend the orchon brave ramen and takoyaki.
We drove about a half hour to try this place because they have Takoyaki and it was worth it! We each got ramen as well. It was delicious. No issues with missing ingredients or lacking in portions. Neither of us could finish our food and it was well priced! Inside was nicely decorated as well. We were there around 4pm and it was not too busy. It was very much a great comfort food spot. We will be back!
I first came here with a friend of mine back in January for her birthday. First thing I tried was their curry udon with fried chicken. That was one of the best noodle dishes I’d ever had. Since then, I’ve been hooked on this place. If you like ramen and you like it spicy, definitely go for the Orochan “brave”. Very full of flavor and has a decent kick. I’ve had a few other things from there since and it’s all been really good. Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants good ramen. Their rice dishes are really good too. It’s about a 45 minute drive for me to get there, but is very much worth the trip.
I’ve visited Sapporo several times since there aren’t many options for ramen in GR, but it’s been tasty each time. Admittedly, I’ve had better ramen, but the noodles here still hit the spot. I had the butter corn shoyu ramen this last time, along with an order of the takoyaki. Both were excellent. The broth was rich and was complimented by the spring onions, menma, egg, corn and butter. The noodles were slightly chewy (in a good way), and it was very satisfying. The takoyaki was packed with umami and was very rich. Sapporo is a very welcome addition to Grand Rapids’ restaurants.
The food is fantastic. Always ready quickly, hot, and tasty. My only knock would be that you don't always get EVERY ingredient a dish lists. Either way, my belly is always full and happy.
This place has great ramen. Tasted very authentic and have not been disappointed with any of the dishes I have had here. A good price for how much food you get. I specifically enjoy the butter corn shoyu ramen, while my boyfriend loves the spicy “brave” ramen. We tried out the famous “noodle pig” restaurant in GR, and they didn’t even come close to the quality of ramen like here at Sapporo. Definitely a place to check out!
