I’m surprised this place has so many low reviews. I almost wonder if management has changed recently.
It’s got the cheapest 2-3 roll lunch special in the area (about $13 for 3 rolls and soup or salad) and the sushi is decent. The people working have always been pleasant.
If you’re looking to be blown away, this isn’t the place for you. But if you’re looking for a solid sushi lunch spot to pick up from, this place is perfect. I can’t speak to the non-roll items on the menu, though.

Not the best. I'm from New Jersey and I am not foreign when it comes to sushi or chicken teriyaki, we have alot of restaurants in jersey. First, the portion and ratio of chicken, vegetables, and rice is off. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and literally got a table spoon of chicken, 2 pieces of broccoli, teaspoon of shredded carrots, alot of rice, and very little teriyaki sauce. Not pleased, I know NYC is hyped up but this is ridiculous. I have eaten at Sakura alot and yes it's a franchise but Sakura definitely gives you a good portion....you guys should take notes!!!. And update your menu please!!!

Chicken teriyaki bowls always great. Sushi fish quality is a tossup every time you order. I’ve had to throw away multiple full orders from them in the past. Today salmon was grey.

Very bad food poisoning last night; I highly don’t recommend. I spent my night awake and in pain.

love the food here. its my favorite sushi place. my wife and i frequently come here or order from home. owners are very nice and friendly. reasonable price for amazing food. Highly recommend the bluefin sashimi.
This spot should be applauded for maintaining a professional decorum throughout the worst of times.
Sushi Chef here does not copy ideas from neighboring chefs and restaurants, which so many chefs do. all original thinking and ideas here, which I am always on the lookout for!

Time: 1 pm. Came in to the sumo sushi bar. A a worker (a girl) wanted to get my order. She is very unprofessional. Doesn't know how to communicate with guests. I guess her day didn't start well. She even didn't get my simple question about baked rolls. She was getting angry cause she didn't know what to answer. Because her miscommunication and unprofessionalism didn't order anything.
