The service was prompt and attentive. Waitstaff was knowledgeable on the spirits/wine menu. Started with the deviled egg(it was worth the $6 menu price for one half each! The sashimi style presentation was an explosion of eggy, pickled, mustardy, creamy savoriness. Then we had the bone marrow. It arrived garnished with ramps and a stack of slightly charred garlic buttered bread elegantly conveying the rustic and Appalachian feel of the restaurant. It absolutely melted in your mouth. Both were excellent. Would fly back across the country to just have the bone marrow again! I am visiting from Portland, OR. Main course my husband and I had the fried chicken and the pork chop. Cooked to perfection, they were succulent and masterfully prepared. Finished with the banana bread, with fluff and chocolate sauce with whipped cream topping. Fantastic.

Absolutely delicious dishes. I love taking my friends there or make recommendations to the place. I dig the rustic atmosphere and the bookcase door. My favorites from this place are sweet potato leak soup they once had as a daily special and burgers. Good drinks too.

Great atmosphere, with a lot of emphasis on a rustic aesthetic, attention to detail, and a pleasant and competent wait staff. The place is not that big, so it can fill quickly, and wait time can easily blow out of proportion, but most of the time, the small feel is cozy, and helps add to the removed vibe. Full bar, pleasant outside area (weather permitting), and the food is really good. Sort of southern, sort of modern American, the food is a mix of spicy, salty, and comfort classics. Lots of inventive pairings, for the food and the drinks - make sure to keep an open mind, a lot of menu items force you out of your comfort zone, which I think is pretty cool. Overall, really fun dining experience, though probably a bit more expensive than other nearby options.

Cozy place with great food, exceptional drinks, and good service. The Brussels sprouts were some of the best I've ever eaten in my life-- I could have had a meal of just them, while the deviled eggs and fried green tomato sliders were also excellent. The brisket was exceptional and I would go back just to have it again. It was served more on the style of pot roast, but it was delicious. All of the drinks were great, but I found out I'm totally hooked on switchel + whiskey. We also had the date cake and the butterscotch pudding for dessert and they topped the meal off perfectly. Highly recommend this place and I can't wait to go back.

Very small quaint restaurant. There are only about 21 seats, therefore, you might have a wait for a table. We went for brunch. We ordered the grilled banana bread. Excellent. It had a hint of maple, with sugary outside. Just delicious. We ordered the slab of bacon. It was not a slab but more like thick country bacon. The portion was a good size. I shared it with my friend. I ordered the shrimp special, which was boiled shrimp over wilted romaine lettuce, with a small amount of boiled peanut oil and vinegar, topped with fried onions. There were too many deeply fried onions. Candied bacon bits, or candied nuts would have been a nice touch, and it would have cut the tartness of the vinegar. My friend ordered the chicken biscuits with pork gravy, and two sunnyside up eggs. I ordered a bloody Mary. It came with a stick of celery, two pickles, and a stuffed green olive. It was good. A little bit heavy on the horseradish. The service was great. It takes time for he food to come out because the kitchen is extremely small. The food was delicious. The prices were extremely reasonable. There is plenty of street parking. I would go back. I definitely want to go for dinner. The menu looks great.

We went there for brunch. The switchels (apple cider vinegar based cocktails) are an ingenious idea. Never had that stuff before, and will come back for this and, of course, for food. The brunch menu was so creative that I asked for the dinner menu to see how creative the main menu can get. It was one of the most engaging reading I had in a week :-) Will come back to try all that stuff. Met the chef, Nate, who was just hanging out there, and was happy to chat about the place and his menu. Very warm atmosphere matches the comforting menu.

Great cozy restaurant for brunch or dinner. Great Bloody Mary, yummy burger, fried chicken and waffles, and cocktails. Cool cottage library feel. Great to take a friend for an intimate brunch or parents for dinner or romantic date.

The atmosphere in this place is the perfect mix of interesting and understated and very rustic. The drinks are the best I've had in Bushwick (including June). My only qualm is that they have a very limited menu and it can be hard for vegetations and picky eaters.

Came once for brunch and wasn't blown away. Came back for dinner and had my life changed. The pig tails are one of the best things I've ever eaten. Can't wait to go back.
