I use to order from them a few times a week and use to think they were the best kosher Chinese in Brooklyn. Yesterday I ordered from them and the food was absolutely horrible. Their crispy beef use to be my favorite but yesterday it was hard and the sauce was watery. The sesame chicken had no sauce. I called to complain and spoke to the sweet waitress that usually picks up. She claims that they changed the oil they use. I requested that they send me a new crispy beef but to my disappointment the exact horrible dish came. Hunan, you shouldn't be charging the same high prices for your food if you downgraded and decided to go cheap. I will never ever order from you again. I am truly disappointed.

Hunan is a very mixed bag. It's definitely not an eating establishment that I crave often but when I do, it does the job (but just barely). As what many other reviewers are stating, the atmosphere is absolutely phenomenal however the actual food leaves a bit to be desired. As I said prior, it's a mixed bag. Sometimes my food comes out tasting amazing and sometimes it just doesn't wow me. I use to order the lunch special (great value) everyday since I use to live in the area. Some days I would receive a great dish while others day I had little to no chicken in my chicken and broccoli dish. In terms of dinner value, I feel it is a tad bit overpriced for me personally however I won't stand in the way of a kosher establishment trying to cover their overhead costs and simply thriving on the idea of capitalism. I'll still go, but I've certainly have better and feel that with a little bit of restructuring in the food department, Hunan could really be spectacular.

Great staff, really made my dinner enjoyable. Recommended great food. Sesame chicken was to die for. Best pepper steak I tasted in a while. Will definitely be coming here often especially with the great wait staff and manager who helped me throw a birthday party there for my fiancé. Will definitely come again! Great Kosher Chinese food.

That had to be the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The egg drop soup was so thick that if it sit a little while, it had a thick skin on the surface and it was almost highlighter yellow. Tasted stale. I ordered a sesame chicken and white rice (lunch special) and it came with a thick, BBQ like sauce (mind you, it should be kinda dry, general comes with the garlic sauce) and it was draped and swimming in this sauce and the rice was the detest white rice I've seen in any Chinese restaurant. And the "chicken" was the hardest thing to bite into. I'm pretty sure it's not real chicken. And on top of that, they added an 18% tip when I ate during lunch time, BY MYSELF... not a group. Not for dinner. Lunch time (like 11:30 am ) by myself. The only I enjoyed was the wonton chips. I will never go back

I have to raise them some more stars. they have significantly improved. tips are still auto charged but the food has gotten a lot better.
original review:
bland and overpriced food. im suspecting they designed this place for young people to take their dates out to. The atmosphere is definetly there for it but don't expect to enjoy yhe meal. the generals tso chicken was ok but the peppers were rotten. The bbq beef sticks were a nice size but they were charred and flavorless. The hot and sour soup had absolutely no flavor. the staff is friendly but i think they take advantage with those prices. They automatically tack on an %18 charge for the tip, so i whould suggest paying cash if you can afford it.

I eat kosher Chinese and understand how low the proverbial bar is. This food really bad. sesame chicken has like 2 ounces of meat, the rest is batter and rice. chicken egg roll is basically a vegetarian eggroll. there is no meat in anything. The staff is nice. the food is what I like to call "remind me to never order from there again."
to me it comes down to your tolerance for putting really bad things into your body.
still love chinese food but, i will be paying for this "meal".
one love.

at first when i ordered the food it was really expensive so i wanted to cancel but i was hungry and didnt have time. although, the food was delivered quickly. i then tasted it and the food was bland. what a shame their portions for the lo main were OK but like i said too expensive, not worth $19 plus tax, the sesame chicken was a joke, i would never pay $18 for such a small portion because the food wasnt worth it, everything was bland. its such a shame, i dont think i will order from there again, unless the food will be cheeper and not bland, it was good flavor just bland. sorry

Unfortunately there is no zero star rating. Not only is the food and delivery over priced, part of our order was no delivered. We were told to wait an hour and a half and that they were busy. The manager was not helpful at all and offered no apology. As if all this is not bad enough the food was over cooked and under seasoned. Stay away!
