Server was attentive and checked in several times. Decent happy hour of $6 margarita, $8 if flavored. They added a service charge on the bill for just 2 people (typically expected for 4-5+ people).

Fun interior, friendly, quick service. Yummy food. We had quesadillas and tostadas. Both very good.

castro's is one of those legendary neighborhood spots that only seems to get the recognition it deserves in the neighborhood. i wish there were michelin stars for places like this, reasonably priced restaurants that give you phenomenal service no matter the time of year. the menu is huge and all of it is good. i especially like the breakfast here; the coffee is good, and i'll get a breakfast torta and slather it in both of the salsas one after another. what a restaurant.

I’ve tried a lot, A LOT of Mexican spots in the area and this has been my fave hands down. Variety of spicy salsas, veggie options, and authentic styles. Only knocked one star because I think the prices are a bit high for the area. But will say portion size is really generous.

Was great as usual but the atención was a bit lacking like no chips and salsa offered while we waited. Never asked if we wanted dessert or just ask if everything was okay and never got the check we needed to walk towards the cashier and ask for it. A bit lacking in the service department.

We had appetizers and cocktails which included Tostones w/ garlic sauce and a side of Guacamole. I also ordered the spicy Pork Empanada and my friend had the Fish Taco. The cocktails ( Corona and Mango Margarita) hit the spot! This family owned restaurant has been servicing the Clinton Hill community for decades. Run, don't walk if you like some delightful Mexican food!

Good local Mexican place. Very authentic! Friendly service. Open kitchen. Can see how they prepare the food. Very extensive menu! Reasonable prices! Lots of lunch specials and other combo meals. Everything is made to order! Seating area is cozy! Nicely decorated! Front of the store is where the open kitchen is. So it can get hot. Back of the restaurant is cooler. Would recommend this place!

One of a personal favorites for any meal of the day. The dishes are more true to traditional home cooked Mexican food. The hot sauces range from mild to spicy, but not too spicy. The cemita is a great quick bite that consists of special sesame baked rolls and stuffed with your choice of meat (steak, chorizo, chicken). It sandwiches lettuce, salsa, avocado, beans, chipotle, and special Oaxacan cheese. The tamales are also tasty and standard to traditional Mexican tamales that families make at home. Give any of their meals a try, you won't be disappointed!
