Very nice dining experience. I went with my girlfriend, since we both have been meaning to try out the LES location. Very friendly and welcoming staff. The beer selection and wine selection is vast. We had the happy hour prefix menu. The portions were just right. The curried snails is a very delicious, earthy savory dish. The kohlrabi Kimchee has quite a heat tangy kick but pairs very well with grilled calamari. The grilled Octopus is juicy tender. The hangar steak was good perfectly medium rare, with a buttery rosemary gratin. Desserts are okay, the Apple fritters were quite dense, but there is no pastry chef so do not expect brilliant desserts. I will visit again
Quaint little place!!! We only went for dessert but the entrees other guests were enjoying looked fabulous. Plate presentation was amazing. The apple tart was to die for!
Last night, my husband and I celebrated an anniversary and decided to treat ourselves to "fancy-restaurant "delivery -- something we'd never done before. We landed on Gentleman Farmer, a neighborhood favorite. We'd been there for both brunch and dinner and decided to treat ourselves to a french onion soup, rack of lamb, and a boar chop. We expected it'd taste as good as the restaurant but didn't have high hopes for the presentation. To our surprise it showed up looking miles better than we'd imagined -- and tasted just as good as we'd come to expect eating there IRL. Totally impressed, and a great way to spend our anniversary at home.
We come here a lot! Amazing food. The risotto is superb and the octopus is a must, portion is a little small, specially to share as an appetizer... The entrees are all delicious, we’ve tried most of them! Service is very good and the ambience of the restaurant is relaxed with adult vibe.
One of the best meals of my life. The octopus appetizer is amazing top 5 things I ever ate.
The plates are well throughout, the presentation is impeccable, and the execution is top notch.
The chairs are not comfortable. Everything else was awesome.
This is one of our favorite spots in Fort Greene and I feel it’s a hidden gem. There’s a great wine selection and the food is always delicious. The service is always friendly. Their beet salad is brisket is a must. You know your dining experience is off to a great start when the olive oil is mixed with garlic. :)
AMAZING! The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The service was stellar! Definitely recommend the grilled octopus and curry snails as an appetizer. The lamb entree was soooo good! I wish I hadn't eaten so fast but it was too delicious!
Really a quite pleasant surprise! We came here for a nice dinner, expecting just another restaurant. However we were pleased to find a well-above average experience. Our server was very knowledgeable about the dishes. Food came out rather quick and was all paced appropriately. Flavors of the venison dish paired exceedingly well. Dessert was excellent - one of the best souffles I've ever had. But the star of the show was indeed the scallops and foie gras appetizer.
The food here is undeniably good and the service great as well. But two minor complaints. The seating is not terribly comfortable is one. And the second more important one is the whole place smelled like over powering air freshener. This had us wondering if they were trying to mask some other unpleasant smell or if someone had just gone spray happy. It's a worth a try tho cause if that smell isnt there, I have no doubt you will love the food and the menu.
Great food! Hidden gem comes to mind about Gentleman Farmer. Don't let the location fool you this place has a menu and food quality to rival anyone in the city. For the foodies out there should you be campaigning for a Michelin star no, but get it is worth a taxi ride from any borough -- you will not be disappointed. I had the duck which was second to none.
