A surprising gem of French cuisine at reasonable prices. They dub themselves "funky" and their menu is eclectic fusion of flavors. Highly recommend the confit tacos, and a dish that was akin to a shepherds pie but with rich and hearty mushrooms. Friendly staff, great cocktails! Glad we found it while visiting Brooklyn.
Location great, food fabulous, service superb, deserts devine. Really great place to eat ticked a lot of boxes everything was right from the food to the music the deserts were some of the best I have had anywhere and the wine for the price was awesome.
Great atmosphere, great drinks, and great food. The duck tacos, mussels, and sea salt truffle oil fries are yum, not to mention in walking distance from home......those mojitos are amazing
This is the place to be on a Tuesday after work! All you can eat mussels are so delicious. Get the one in the thai sauce amazing!
Great tasting food, exceptional staff and lovely friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.

I simply,love it"delicious food,very goodattention,the food is amazing,I went with a friend,simply "love it".
Went for drinks, staff extremely friendly and welcoming.
Love this place! The move to Bed-Stuy only enhanced the mood of the restaurant.
Great cocktails and wine selection
The veggie ļæ½ was awesome ļæ½ too
Amazing vibe and equally amazing food. Looking forward to going back many many times!
The hidden French gem of Bed-Stuy. The food was amazing. Service was even better, thank you Mr. B š. Definitely worth coming in the rain and the happy hour was šš¾šš¾šš¾šš¾. We are coming back for sure.
We had a lovely brunch here on a rainy day. A very attractive restaurant, and we sat by the window. I had a cheddar and spinach omelet and my friend had French onion soup. Both were delicious. We didn't like the coffee though, but food was good.
Never a bad word to say. They changed loactions but I made sure to find them. The staffās customer service is comparable to going to a friendās home for a special occasion dinner. The atmosphere is cozy, just the right temperature, beautiful colors and artwork, with music from an array of genres that somehow seem to flow flawlessly. Then thereās the food. My taste buds havenāt been disappointed in the least. Every dish is flavorful, never salty, arranged beautifully and slight substitutions are never an issue, like swapping a boiled egg for a sunny side up one. Of course you can wash it down with one of their wonderful beverages, from sparkling water to strawberry margaritas and their specialty drinks. Great price point as well and family friendly. Tellāem I sent ya and enjoy
Damn amazing fish and chips! Other dishes are good and fries are great. This place shines because of their flan game tho. No lie, some of the best flan Iāve had in my life, Iāve had here, and I grew up eating flan in Colombia. In conclusion, come here, food is very delicious and thereās a whole nature-y vibe going on which is very nice.
I love Chez Oskar. The food is tasty and the service is consistent. I love the lamb burger and they just returned with their all you can eat mussels. I love that!! But it is only on Tuesdays, I believe. The octopus is also always so delicious.
This is one of those places where a quite independent lunch is just as fulfilling as an engaging romantic dinner. The food is inspired, the atmosphere is captivating and the staff is personable and professional. 5 stars!
I was so so impressed by this place! Every single dish that we got was awesome, and the atmosphere was eclectic and cozy. There is a also huge selection of creative cocktails. The marrow and escargot atmosphere is fantastic.
I have been coming to Chez Oscar for a while now, and the food never disappoints. Their croque madame and lamb burger are some of my favorites on the menu. If you have to chose, Iād suggest going there for brunch. The service is good overall, but can take a little bit. Definitely recommend this place.
Iāve been coming here for the past few months and love every minute I can spend here. The staff, food/drinks and ambience are all top notch and the menu is a great value for a dine-in experience. On top of the traditional French eats, the ownership seems to take pride in the details of the music playlist and the beauty of the spaceāthey are always making little changes which shows an excellent attention to detail.
The staff are an excellent teamāthose who know French service know that it can be difficult to hunt down your server for various reasons. This is not the case at Chez Oskar. If your primary server isnāt available to get you the ketchup or put in a drink, any of the other staff are happy to help. Iāve enjoyed getting to know each of them.

pretty cute little spot, lovely outdoor seating. i had the salmon eggs benedict, canāt complain.
Iāve been going to Chez Oskar for years, and itās one of my favorite restaurants in Bedstuy. Their Croque Madame and Croque Monsieur are to die for. I also think if you go, you should try their cheese boards. With the pandemic, the fabulous ballroom is closed, but the open indoor area still feels very cozy. I also suggest you try their lamb burgers if you are a meat type of person. The only thing Iāll say on the downside is that I personally prefer their brunch menu to their diner menu.
Been meaning to try Chez Oskar for a while and finally got around to it. Overall I loved it, but would use this experience to curate what I order in future since there were three of us and we had 3 courses it was a good opportunity to test whatās worth getting.
Drinks: We tried the noisette martini, walnut negroni, and pear 75. All were pretty good. The nut sprinkles on the noisette were a cute touch but annoying to consume, too chunky and meant you have to chew the drink. Nut shavings or grounds would be better.
Starters: Chicken liver mousse was tasty af. Ratio of mousse to bread to cornichons was off. You need a piece of cornichon in every bite to cut through the richness of the mousse, and easily an extra slice of bread. Escargots and bone marrow was near-faultless. Onion soup was good but the cheese was a bit overpowering. Not a usual French onion but still good.
Entrees: Risotto of the day was rainbow trout with saffron and Dijon. So unusual and delicious. Perfectly cooked. Steak frites was banging. Juicy (get it medium rare I beg you) and flavorful steak, frites were not the crispiest but more fluffy. Could have had more frite and less side salad if anything.
Dessert: key lime pie was good, not great. Got it with the limoncello which was objectively the worst thing that landed on our table and came 5 mins after we finished the desserts. Creme brĆ»lĆ©e would be better off with regular vanilla bean. A good crĆØme brĆ»lĆ©e doesnāt need orange and saffron. Flourless choc cake was very good, comes with a few strawberry slices and vanilla ice cream. Perfect.
Service was very French (aka a bit slow and very hands off). We got our starters before any water or drinks and had to ask again for them. If youāre looking for American style overbearing service, donāt expect that here. It wasnāt super busy but I did only see two staff the entire time so I wonder if they were short. If thatās the case they did a decent job of managing it.
Knocked off a star for the limoncello, lacklustre crème brûlée and key lime pie, and slightly impaired service. Would definitely go again because the rest was so tasty!
I like when you can look at the plate and immediately see the value of what you're paying for. Delicious, pure, and elegant is how I would describe the burrata and roasted mixed mushroom dish. I was expecting the tomato confit to be more of a sauce. They managed to keep the tomatoes whole. Little flavor bombs that added a sweet acidity to the rich burrata and mellow mushrooms.
It was amazing! It was super warm(it's winter as I write this) , comfortable, great vibe, and pleasant hostess. All four of my group loved their food. One got the steak and eggs medium, one got a chicken sandwich, the other got eggs benedict with bacon i got eggs benedict with cured salmon. The steak was juicy and yet crispy around the edges, the chicken sandwich was tender with a soft bun and the eggs benedict (done medium) wasn't to runny, the salad side was fresh and the potatos were also good. We shared french toast and it was the best I've had, the syrup had a vanilla and buttermilk taste to it. We will be going back before we return to Canada next week!
Always nice, most reliable joint in Bedstuy
Truly excellent experience at this restaurant. Everything was cooked to perfection. Wine list and bar both very well stocked with just the right amount of quality options across a range of price points. Service was very attentive and friendly (and in at least one case authentically native-speaking French!). Staff was welcoming and hospitable, and the gentleman that was assisting me for the latter half of my meal made wonderful suggestions. Decor is quaint and cozy, and belies the underlying quality of the service and food: the unassuming appearance underpromises and the incredible quality and value of the food and drinks along with the great service overdeliver.
Absolutely check this place out! Just donāt take my table!
