When u think hometown deli this is the place! The Bronx may be big but this deli treats you like family! The food is delicious !
One of the best corned beef sandwiches and knishes I've ever had.. And the owner was amazing and very personable...
Today had Pastrami which was very tasty and tender, and it was certainly as large as Bens Deli. I don't really enjoy a pound of meat on sandwich. Knish was tasty and crunchy, which was how it was served back in the day. Is is a little overpriced? Maybe. 1.75 for Dr Brown ain't that terrible in a Kosher style restaurant. Folks this isn't a bodega and it's only lunch and dinner customers.
This place is the last of its kind, a 15-second walk from the el, a window into the Bronx of the 1950s and '60s. When Freddy the owner retires, it's hard to imagine his deli continuing. He serves a good pastrami sandwich. It's not stuffed like the sandwiches at some of the tourist traps downtown, but it's good quality, well seasoned and worth the drive from Manhattan.
The pastrami here is excellent. Easily the best in the Bronx. Service is friendly and quick. The sandwich is not as big as other deli's but I prefer quality over quantity.
I used to always grab a knish or their hot dogs, but things weren't up to par as pop Loesher started stepping back from day to day operations. That's the problem with moms and pop businesses, the kids don't often carry the business and they have to resort to hiring just anyone.
Not to mention, the landlord started harassing them over a 30 year old gas hookup in order to have a reason to evict. It might be out of business.
Omg!!! This place made my mouth water! The pastrami! The cornbeef! The knish, wow! So worth it. The server Aaron made us some onion rings made from scratch wowsers yummy
This place is legit and stays true to its roots (no cheese steaks on this menu like Katz) if you want cheap sandwiches go to the bodega. This is not the same type of deli.
I always come here for a proper hot dog and pickles and not once have I been disappointed. Prices can be a little high but you get quality in exchange
Best pastrami in the Bronx. Been going there for over 40 years. Love it!
I really like the pastrami sandwiches. Freddy is a real nice guy with old school charm.
great friendly atmosphere, part of the old nabe. the last of the great Jewish deli's
