I've been going to the getaway bar for years you cannot find a better place to eat a steak ribs or burger and have the nicest people to wait on you in some of the best customers
Cubs fan or not, you have to love this piece of Wrigleyville transplanted to Bridgman. It was packed with tons of Cubs fans (and a Pirate fan) and was a very friendly confine. We were told to sit at any of the Cubs-decorated tables and our drink order was taken right away (with a great draft beer selection). We ordered cheese curds as an appetizer, and they were delicious. We shared a meatloaf dinner. Food was great, but the green beans were hammered and mushy. The TVs in the bar area were tuned to the Cubs-friendly WGN, but those in the area where we sat were on the Pittsburgh channel and focused on the Bucs. Nonetheless we will be back. Great fun!
I planned my vacation to include this restaurant when I headed across the state of Michigan. I loved it 2 years ago when I first stopped by and couldn't wait to go back.
Love the atmosphere inside and out. Especially the outside and the outdoor dining area. Nice mural of Chicago on the back wall. Top notch unique and I'm not even a big fan of baseball. lol Our server, Adriana, was excellent. She was prompt, friendly and happy to wait on us. She took our order, 2 prime rib meals and checked on us multiple times. Prime rib was just okay. Booth prime steaks were way overcooked. Prefer med rare, but received them very well done. Still, it was edible and the rest of our meal was good. Bench seat booths were hard wood and not very comfortable. Will choose table and chairs next time around. Enjoyed watching the Cubs play baseball on many of the TV located inside the restaurant. All and all, it was another great stop that was a necessity for our trip to Lake Michigan. Will be back next year.
I stopped here this past weekend, while traveling, with my partner who is a Cubs fan. We were excited to see this restaurant as we were passing through. The owner was so kind as to greet us at the door, and also check on us during our meal. Our server was also very very attentive and personable. I eat at restaurants often throughout the country, and this restaurant was hands-down one of the best I’ve ever been to. They had great food and the best service of any restaurant I’ve ever been to. It was truly a memorable experience. Thank you!! We will be back next time we are in town!!
We were staying in Bridgeman and we're Cubs fans, so it would be against the law not to visit! Eclectic atmosphere with dozens of Cubby related pictures and trinkets all over the place. Service was excellent, food is good, not great, but definitely worth a try. Especially if you bleed Cubby blue.
We are locals that really don't do a lot of eating out due to poor service etc. owing to staffing issues rolling off the pandemic. We decided to try this place finally and were so glad we did!!! First of all the service was OUTSTANDING. The waitress Brenda was fabulous! She was the only waitress at lunch hour and serviced the bar as well as the dining room. She was pleasant, professional, and did an excellent job checking back with us to make sure we were good. It's so wonderful to finally find a place that has great service!
We had the Bang Bang shrimp and the Italian Beef sandwich. Both were excellent and large portions. We also each had a glass of wine, both were healthy poors. Prices are reasonable. Decor is retro Chicago corner tavern with tons of Cub memorabilia and 11 large screen TV. We give The Getaway Cubby Grille two 👍👍!! We will be back for sure!!!
First timer! We had a large group of us, 16 actually . You all did fantastic!!! Very pleasant and kept our drinks full. The food was great, everyone enjoyed it. Highly recommend! We all enjoyed the fun music bingo.
Hey, if you're a Cubs fan, The Get-A-Way’s the joint to be at. Fast service, friendly faces, and an atmosphere jam-packed with sports memorabilia. Their burgers? Top-notch. And while their Chicago dogs might not be straight from the Windy City, they've got a taste that’ll make you come back. Holy cow! I’ll be swingin’ back soon!
We made a visit to the famed Bridgman establishment known for its great food. We purchased their special tonight (homemade meatball linguine), and it was fantastic!!
We also recommend the homestyle bowl which is mashed potatoes and green beans with chicken and gravy!
Pepper was awesome! We would only come back if we knew she was working! So professional and knowledgeable! Great bar tenderer/ manager! Love her!! I’ve been in the service industry for 30 years and she was amazing!
The most memorable part of this bar was the atmosphere. It was all Chicago cubs themed. It had great memorabilia that really displayed the history of the Chicago Cubs really well.
As for food, the only thing that I ordered were the mushrooms and they were fantastic. The breading was nice and crunchy and the mushrooms tasted fresh and they were big and bulky. I wish that I would have been more hungry so I could have tried more.
It was very hot outside when I visited Cubbies. Inside the bar, it felt like the AC was not working. That's definitely something that they need to address asap.
Overall, this place has great atmosphere and great food.
Being from Chicago and a born Cubs fan, this place was a blast. Great decor, everything Cubs, Wrigley Field, etc. Went on a Monday evening, tacos and trivia. Crowded but easy to get seated. The food offerings are definitely not typical "bar food". Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Good pour on the cocktails as well.
