First timer. I moved from the Deep South and decided to try this place that many of my friends like that serves Soul food. Simply put, I’m satisfied and I’d recommend it. The place was clean and the food looked great. I feel some items were ridiculously expensive - 7$ for a slice of cake?! NOT. The meal portions are fair though. You can get full and have leftovers. I spent $45 for two meals, one drink and one extra side. The food was nicely seasoned…not Southern seasoned…but healthy seasoned lol. I really liked the yams and cabbage. The service could be a little better. Though the staff were nice, I was left waiting for someone to ring me up as my food sat getting cold (I dined in). One of those situations where they see you waiting but assume someone else will help you. Also, restroom had no soap and a dirty, broken toilet. Good spot, nice area.

I’m so heated right now!! I just spent almost $100 for an early Mother’s Day Dinner (takeout) The whiting fish taste burnt, dried out and like it’s been sitting all day. The portions they give you are equal to a kids meal too! I called to speak with a manager and was told that they were in a meeting and I’d have to wait until they reopen. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else with better cooks and customer service. Signed, one hangry mom!

The food was absolutely delicious. The line was out the door at 2:00. This was my first time, which left me very confused on what I’m supposed to do. The reason for 4 stars is there needs to be some changes… first, you can’t see the menu much from the line, please put some menus with pictures and descriptions so people can decide before they get up to order.. this would help move the line faster too. Also, I had decided my family’s orders one I could actually read the menu, and ordered those items but I saw much better choices once I was walking past the food bar (AFTER I ordered) so I wish I could’ve changed it without being a pain at that point, and would’ve chose differently had I of known what things were. Also, PLEASE put labels on the glass or near the food of what items are.. I mean yes I know what fried chicken, Mac and cheese, etc are but some items I would’ve liked to of known what they were to decide if I’d want them, without having to ask since you guys were super busy. My last suggestion, is please have trash cans accessible and noticeable for customers.. I saw many people asking where to put their trash an even we never figured it out.. we ended up taking our trash out of the restaurant and throwing it in a trash can outside. Otherwise, we received great customer service, and delicious food… but for first timers, it was very complicating and frustrating to navigate. Will be back to try the other items I was interested in and wished I would’ve ordered!

Tried for the first time today and I will first say that the food was great. The fried porkchops were nicely seasoned (but could have been a little more tender). The mac and cheese and collards were decent as well. Hubby loved his jerk chicken sandwich, but thought it could have maybe been marinated a bit more in whatever jerk seasoning they use -- but no major complaints there. Pricing isn't bad for the portions. While we carried out, the restaurant was clean and all the food looked great. Here's where I was deeply disappointed -- the service. The staff was nice and courteous, so that's a plus, but we had to wait over 30 minutes for the jerk chicken sandwich. Like one other reviewer noted, it was one of those situations where people CLEARLY see you standing and waiting to ask a question about their order...make eye contact...but never acknowledge you. This was both the cashier and another young lady who seemed to be the manager. I was even asked to wait for my order off to the side, and they would call my name when ready, so as to not crowd the counter (which I absolutely understand and appreciated). Here's the problem: The music playing is so loud, no one could possibly hear their name being called; and that really doesn't matter, because they never called it anyway. Me and another gentleman (who was there BEFORE me) waited entirely too long and had to initiate the question of our respective food orders. Which apparently, were just sitting on the side...waiting. Please, please, please do better. This is a nice establishment, pretty good food, and a great alternative to some of the other chains. If you work in customer service, try not to forget the customers you're serving. If I come again, I'll likely just order something that's already cooked or will call ahead, if possible.

I visited this restaurant today in hope of enjoying some good ole soul food instead I received the driest chicken I have ever tried to eat the Macaroni was over cooked but they still added tons of cheese looked like slop! The green were okay and potatoes salad but 22 bucks i won't be coming back to this location! The female cook back there is not following the recipe she is freestyling😳

I went to Carolina Kitchen today for some fried fish. They said it would be ready in a few minutes. I was like okay and went to pay. All of a sudden, they said fish was ready. I took the fish home and when I sat down to eat it, I saw that it was some old friend fish. Yuck. This place used to be really good, but has gone down in recent years.

Carolina Kitchen is the best soul food black own restaurant ever. The one in Waldorf Catered a dinner for my son's party. When I say the food was bomb..my my my.. the food was AMAZING. Everyone at the party had at least 3 plates.they dont even eat my food like that(lol). The staff was wonderful everything was ready when I got there . The service was superb and that is something nowadays you can not find. I am grateful and thankful for your service so My rating for them is beyond 5 stars. Im giving them a 100 stars. Keep up the superb services. Thanks from the Scott family.
