Crab Boss

When the crab boss came out in the DMV years ago. I always wanted to explore their food because I'm a Floridian. At the time they started it wasn't much crab boil going on. Fast forward to today, because I use to hear so many good things about their food I thought I would take that ride to try them out for the first time. Unfortunately, I have to say it's over rated, it was expensive which I don't have a problem with the price if the food is worth it. I bought the little combo which is the picture that is posted, an order of crab fries and a shrimp alfredo all for a whooping price of $78. Very small portions with highly salty flavoring and no sauce for the combo. It wasn't anything I expected, I guess I caught them on o e of their down days. The crab fries was the only thing good that came out of the entire order🤷🏾‍♀️.

The entire process behind this meal...this spot...this experience...was delightfully pleasing to my palate, pocket, and peace of mind!! Once again I have herd wondrous stories about this spot, but had never been. Well today was that day for me!! With establishments located at 1101 H St., N.E. Washington D.C., and 14125 Brandywine Rd., Brandywine M.D. the @crabboss00 has the succulent seafood to satisfy your stomachs sentiments!! REALLY!! So I went to their spot in Maryland via the menu being a tad bit different by offering “By the pound” plates. You can get snow crabs (pictured 1/2 lb. $18), Jumbo shrimp (pictured 1/2 lb. $12), crawfish, mussels, and/or lobster (pictured 1/2 lb. $21) at the Maryland spot. They also offer a half dozen, or a dozen spiced, and sauced up blue crabs at market price there. Hold up, my bad, I skipped a whole process...the SAUCE!! So after you make your protein choice you can choose between their signature Boss Sauce (<the one I chose) or their Trini Peppa Boss Sauce, to be tastefully slathered on your meal. You also have the opportunity to select between 3 seasonings...Old Bay, “Duval”(which is garlic based), or their spicy Red Pepper Garlic (<what I chose). When I tell that spicy joint was like that...it was MOM upside down...WOW!! So they have fish sandwiches, crab cakes, chicken wings, crab fries, catfish platters, seafood Mac and Cheese...just everything you’d think a seafood spot is should have, and then some...simply delicious, tasteful, and fulfilling. I also copped their Cajun potatoes, corn, eggs(all $2 each)...to topped the meal off. Their customer service was warm and jovial, and parking at this location was plentiful. GO!! SIMPLY HORRIBLE! DO NOT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THE ADVERTISEMENT! This place is set up like a fast food. You go to the register, order your food and when it is ready you go pick it up. The food did not taste well. They DO NOT SELL CRABS!!!!!! NO CRABS at that location. They put your food in these cheap brown Square paper boxes where the butter is scattered all over the bottom of the box. This is not a good place to eat. Do not waste your time and money....

Normally I'm in love with their boss fries. They're definitely overpriced, but usually they're so good that I don't mind stopping by every now and then. Supporting small businesses and all that. The problem here is the word "usually." Because there have been a handful of times where I've brought my food home only to take a bite into disappointingly stale fries. The crab meat and the sauce are still fantastic, but for how much it costs the whole order needs to be on point...and it needs to be on point consistently. Not just "usually."

I finally made it to this place. I was not expressed. After reading the reviews I thought I was in for a treat. I was tricked. They no longer have crab cakes on the menu. And the service was undesirable. If you don't like your job please get out the kitchen and the business. A sour attitude will ruin your business. Maybe the reason there wasn't a sole in the place.

Was looking for a place to get crabs from but realized this was the same place where the manager laughed at my resume when I first started looking for jobs, No offer to help me get experience or anything, "You can do dishes" while he's holding my paper with greasy fingers he didnt even wash. Not to mention I watched how they act towards people, they take forever to prepare orders, are rude, and will blast music as if they wont ever hear it again.

Love this place but today they was way off. Ordered curb side waited and eventually went in to get my order from the taste of it it was sitting and i was outside for 15 before the time to pick it up i went in everyone looking like they don’t want to be there no hey how’s it going or welcome etc food didn’t taste the same at all customer service is bad today they all look sleepy and dry in there. I remember gong in to there and feeling the energy.
