I went here with my friend, she had been here before but it was my 1st time I got a Ham & Cheese with mustard, pickles & tomatoes. My friend got a HUGE steak & cheese sub & a smaller meatball sub. The quality is great, the prices are perfectly reasonable & the subs are awesome!

I have been coming here for over 30 years. Unlike most places I grew up going to. The quality of food still consistent no matter how long of a break I take. The line is long usually but worth the wait!

The upgrades made me giggle; the last time I was there, signs were handwritten, and you could see behind the glass. It hasn't changed too much because there's still mental math and a calculator and an ATM because it's CASH ONLY 🤭🤗

This place is super old skool: you order and come back for pickup 45min later. (Forget online: it's IN PERSON only.) Closes at 3p, but ordering ends at 145p or 2p. Cash Only! Locals have favorites (esp. Tuna), folks order off-menu items; be respectful of The Line. Ideal is a culture -- it's NOT 'fast food. No seating; it's a hole-in-the-wall sandwich joint but legend.

Ideal Sub Shop is one of Boston's true hidden gems. I had my very first sub here 36 years ago. The food was great then and it is still great today. All meats and cheeses are cut fresh to order and your tuna salad is mixed right before your eyes. The line can be long at times but it moves at a good pace and it speaks to the quality of the product. If you are impressed with other sub shops "foot longs" then you will be blown away by Ideal's "whole bread subs". Please make note that this in an old school cash only business. In summary; great people, great prices and great food. 👍🏾

Great subs! got a super sized steak and mushroom and it was big enough to feed 4 hungry adults. Well worth the price. Downside, Very small inside so you have to wait cafeteria style to order, then wait outside for your food. Best to call ahead.

Despite their subs being really good they Lack service. They do not answer the phone and they take long in getting you order ready.

This place is small and you can't dine! You can order on the phone and pick up or walk in..There subs are the best in Boston! Customer service is awesome and they prepare the cold sub infront of you...The prices are affordable, parking is not so great!
