From the moment you walk into Ostra you are greeted with the aroma of great foods. Being here will guarantee your palate to be indulged in a sea of flavors. The staff is courteous and the atmosphere is happy and inviting. As an appetizer, we got the octopus. It was tender and very well seasoned. For the entree, we ordered the Salmon and the Bream. Both perfectly cooked and packed with many flavors. Every bite was better than the last one. The deserts were also outstanding. At the end, we got pieces of chocolate filled with caramel… what a delight.
Impeccable service and food! Nice place to celebrate. For appetizers we shared chilled king crab and the grilled octopus. Loved the grilled octopus but not so much the crab - could be just a personal taste. Both main dishes (monkfish and sea bream) were great and portions were pretty big.
Great ambience and amazing food in general. Service is wonderful. The octopus tastes too spicy and salty and bitter, but they did not charge us for this dish. Paella is my favorite one! First time trying the salt crusted branzino, so juicy and delicious! Will definitely revisit again
Food
Except the paella, everything was phenomenal. They have three tartare, salmon, tuna and sea bass. We ordered both salmon and sea bass, since every other restaurant has tuna tartare. Both tartare were so delicious that we wish we order the tuna tartare as well. I absolutely loved their salmon tartare. The flavour and the texture were perfect. They also split the dish into two plates for us. Moving on to the first course, grilled octopus was good but a little too citrusy for me. The crispy oysters were addicting. Even though the paella was not the best I have ever had, it was well done.
Everything else
Our waiter was very nice and always had a big smile on his face. It made our evening even better. The service was impeccable as expected. However, I do feel that it is quite wasteful for all these high end restaurants to keep changing silverware between dishes. I understand they want to make sure the taste of one dish doesn’t contaminate another, but I think we should think about environmental friendly.
This is our 2nd time here the food is amazing. We loved sitting at the bar. The main room can be loud and crowded. But we met the people around us who were delightful. The bar staff are attentive and so knowledgeable, they make the experience special
Ostra certainly provides for a phenomenal seafood dining experience. All fish/seafood focused dishes were delicious and our waiter ensured we had the right amount and advised us on great choices. Favorites from the tables were the salt-crusted Branzino (extremely tender), the sea bass tartare with black truffle, and the Ricotta Gnocchetti with lobster. I would recommend to approach it as shared dining so you can sample more flavors, sharing plates will be provided accordingly.
Will definitely go again, the price is on the higher end but perfectly reasonable given the quality.
This was a beautiful restaurant with great atmosphere! The details in the decor are stunning with ocean design. The open kitchen is surrounded by small planters of fresh herbs and polished pans hanging above. The table setting is so impressive. The staff are friendly, professional and attentive. Definitely make a reservation beforehand. It was full on a normal Wednesday night. It did get loud as it filled up. The food was outstanding. The portions were excellent. Even the warm bread served with butter and olive oil was exceptional. I ordered steak in a seafood restaurant and it was cooked and presented better than a lot of steak houses I’ve eaten at. I would highly recommend everything about this little gem.
October 2023: I had the Alaskan King Crab appetizer, the Gnocchetti, the Monkfish entree, and the Snow Egg dessert. My server was Brandon. Rating stays at a firm 4.
April 2023: My server was Christopher. Exquisite food, service, ambiance, and seating. I would recommend to set aside at least 2.5 hours for dining if planning for a full dinner. Complimentary freshly baked loaf of bread with butter and olive oil for dipping. The raw yellowtail dish was amazingly fresh and accented with a strong lemon liquid that I found pleasing. The octopus appetizer was the weakest item of what I ordered. The raw onions overwhelmed the flavors and the octopus itself was sliced thin, parts overcooked. Not the best octopus I've ever tasted. The special of the evening was the lamb with a green puree. The lamb was perfectly prepared, but there was a lengthy wait between the appetizer and the lamb, almost an hour. The server apologized profusely for the delay. The restaurant did not have mint sauce or jelly for the lamb. The snow egg dessert was unusual in texture and interesting to eat. I drank tap water and my glass was constantly refilled. Silverware was replaced with a fresh set after each dish change. Ostra is a special occasion restaurant or for those with very deep pockets. Elegant and professional staff.
Everything was top-notch. We started with the Tuna tar tar and the lobster gnocchetti. My wife had the black bass and I went with the seafood paella. Both were amazing. The service was the best we experience in Boston, Conner (?) took excellent care of us.
Ostra has been one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. The food is consistent and the service is always great.
My favorite there is sea bream… always perfect.
I would say they never have any specials… because I go there so often, i think it is about time for Ostra to change the menu a little bit by now. 😅
