South station is 1 of the biggest transportation centers in Boston.
The train, most busses leave from here.
Especially to the airport. It has a restroom, cafes, and a few restaurants to keep you going. A bon pain, a chinese takeout, which is very good. A takeout pizza place and a sit-down bar/tavern.
Beautiful exterior architecture. Station is clean with food and a CVS. The only con, not a lot of places to sit while you wait.
Just a quick bus trip from South station to New London New Hampshire. Terminal was clean and safe, no problems getting out or coming back. Easy access to cabs or Uber/lift. Plenty of security in the area.

for a major train station in general? its certainly better than others. for a train station in Boston? EY, ITS FANTASTIC! that being said, my personal gripes with the place include the worlds most confusing CVS, a pretty bare bones dunkins, bathrooms with 5 rotating stalls perpetually out of order, a relatively frightening single-file accessibility alleyway, extremely hidden elevators that if a conductor isnt in the station you'll never find, and nowhere to sit, ever (frequently a problem, for an ambulatory wheelchair user.) on the foot of better things, if youre not a disabled individual, its incredibly easy to navigate (provided you know how trains in boston work and dont go in the CVS), The food is good and for relatively decent prices, and the staff are helpful enough.
My biggest tip is that if you need to order an uber/lyft, ONLY do it inside the building, and THEN walk out. The cabbies are vicious and not nice at all, I'd trust them as far as i can throw them- but I'd trust a Boston Uber Driver with my life.
Had a very good first experience. No issues whatsoever. The staff were very nice and helpful as well. Boarding was no Issue and I left on time to Worcester. Definitely will take the train again
Very big station with a huge hall. There are big restrooms many benches, elevators and some fast food restaurants. All the commuter rail trains here go to the south directions. There are 2 more levels downstairs with silver line (these are the buses) and on the bottom level, red line subway trains. South station building is an old one and very beautiful from outside.
South Station is small enough to walk through in hurry or stop and get some much needed food or coffee. A large CVS is also on premises - a very large CVS. The public restrooms are the true reason South Station does not get a higher rating. A huge attraction is the local gift store. Normally you might think a store would be expensive, but it's not, they are very reasonable. Enjoy Boston!
We take Amtrak from this station. Several good places for sandwiches, ice-cream and drinks. Only fault: the concrete sidewalks to access the trains. These are in bad shape: pitted and rough. Hard to roll a suitcase here. I'm surprised they have not replaced these.
Main station in Boston. If you travel with regional train in popular destinations, you’d better to move quickly immediately after the platform number is announced.
Central hub of downtown with lots of options. Relatively clean. Has food options.
