It's so hard to capture how fresh the veg is and how right this dish- The Mermaid (?) is. Bright herbs, fresh spice. The fish is cooked perfectly. Branch out from Phad Thai here - I asked my server what to order and she was spot on.
Everything we tried with my family was extremely delicious. We had pad Thai and also crispy pad thai. Red curry was also incredible and it was our favorite. Service was slow. They bring water almost at the end of the dinner.
Overall it was a really good experience. I give four stars because there was a thin aluminum foil in my food. It happens and it's not a big deal I will definitely go there again.
Very nice service and drinks. Food was great and the restaurant has a great ambience.
We had an amazing dinner here while in town for a conference. The food is delicious and there are options catering to all preferences. The cocktails are also incredible - I would definitely recommend the Siam mule. The servers and owners are also so considerate. Will definitely come back next time we’re in Boston!
I had high expectations going to Montien Thai, however, the food was slightly underwhelming. The Pad Thai seemed a little under seasoned and the flavor was more on the bland side. The drunken noodles were good. The plating was colorful. However, there was a high ratio of vegetables to noodles and I wish there were more noodles, given the price. The restaurant did, however, have an extremely great ambiance. My friend described the room decor and colors as “dessert earth tones: burnt sienna with reddish brown accents with a touch of tan grey and this color palette is incorporated in the furniture”. There is cohesive styling all around and it is clear that a lot of thought was put into the ambiance of the restaurant
The food is good, but not great. The food is set up to come out fast for the theater goers. You can tell they have stuff pre-made and throw it together real quick to make multiple meals. The crispy chicken was really good. The pad Thai was good. They shrimp was cooked well, but sauce was fairly blan. During theater rush, the staff is really hauling and work very hard. Service suffers a little because of it. The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful, but the rush is tough on them. Prices were ok for being in theater district. Service is fast.
Excellent Thai food and service. The rice plates are all delicious. The minced pork with basil, the roast duck, the pork with green beans, are all fantastic. If you're adventurous, try the shrimp ceviche -- so good! The coconut soup with shrimp or seafood is one of my favorites. Pad Thai with shrimp and chicken is great and if you don't like peanuts, ask for without. Thai ice coffee and ice tea are also good.
Located in Boston city in a busy part of town with a lot entertainment and places to hang out. Nice seating arrangements with a bar. Old school ambience with red wooden furniture theme. I order the crab anchovy papaya salad and regular papaya salad. I would definitely rank it as the top two best places to have papaya salad in north America from all the cities I have eaten in Canada and the US. The fish larb I order was beautiful played with entire fish deep fried. Fish was so well fried you could even eat the entire fish head like chips. All the bones cracked like chips. The dressing was isarn style larb sour spicy smoky with the roasted rice powder and salty all same time. Fish was fresh not frozen. I believe they used sea bass. I also has fried tilapia fillet with garlic. That was ok I wish they used the whole fish . The fish was definitely not frozen. The staff extremely polite. Owner very kind. We had Thai ice tea which was having a nice strong tea flavor. A lot of restaurants make it too milky and lighter color. Which I don't like. Menu is very well made hitting the classic Thai notes and having some unique dishes such as the Thai larb. This restaurant surprised me. It competes with some of the best restaurants in midtown NYC. It beats 90 percent of the restaurants in bay area. I have to give this one a 5. Please keep up good work and keep the standard high and please keep it authentic.
Great food and great ambience. When we went they seemed a bit short of staff but otherwise no complaints. Will definitely recommend if you are craving Thai food around Boston Commons. I would love to go again.
Really very good food. Excellent soups on the authentic Thai soup section of the menu. The Tom-Yum-Talay noodle soup is excellent. The lemongrass noodle soup is also terrific. Appetizers are great, including shrimp shumai. Will definitely be back!
