Stellar neighborhood spot for drinks, food, and attentive yet friendly service. My mom was undecided between 2 dishes, so I asked if we could order both and split, which was deftly executed & done with a friendly smile. Good wine selection. The fish we ordered was tasty & cooked well. The only potential downside is the bar is loud, but we weren't bothered once we sat in dining room. Definitely recommend and hope to enjoy again soon.
224 Boston is a cozy restaurant that can accommodate larger groups, so it was a good spot for our family of eight to enjoy a meal before the theater. The menu is mostly Italian inspired, American dishes. We went on a pretty quiet night so I could see how this would be a great date spot or a nice place to chat over dinner versus a loud and rowdy restaurant or bar. The service was better than OK, not exceptional. We had to ask for water a couple of times, but our waitress and food runner were kind and polite. The food was really just OK and didn't seem to match some of the higher price points. $37 for a pork chop that came without sides; each side an additional $8 to $10. It was $14 to add a piece of salmon to a salad, the salad alone costing $16, so at $30 I definitely expected to be wowed but the dish fell flat. The drinks were pretty good and the wine was reasonably priced although it was a small pour. I wouldn't go out of my way to return but overall we had an ok time.
Haven't been for a few years. And it is hard to find a place open on Mondays since covid19. It was our 29th anniversary. Food was good. Service was great. The place had a good early crowd for a Monday. A little expensive but not bad.
