Stellar neighborhood spot for drinks, food, and attentive yet friendly service. My mom was undecided between 2 dishes, so I asked if we could order both and split, which was deftly executed & done with a friendly smile. Good wine selection. The fish we ordered was tasty & cooked well. The only potential downside is the bar is loud, but we weren't bothered once we sat in dining room. Definitely recommend and hope to enjoy again soon.

224 Boston is a cozy restaurant that can accommodate larger groups, so it was a good spot for our family of eight to enjoy a meal before the theater. The menu is mostly Italian inspired, American dishes. We went on a pretty quiet night so I could see how this would be a great date spot or a nice place to chat over dinner versus a loud and rowdy restaurant or bar. The service was better than OK, not exceptional. We had to ask for water a couple of times, but our waitress and food runner were kind and polite. The food was really just OK and didn't seem to match some of the higher price points. $37 for a pork chop that came without sides; each side an additional $8 to $10. It was $14 to add a piece of salmon to a salad, the salad alone costing $16, so at $30 I definitely expected to be wowed but the dish fell flat. The drinks were pretty good and the wine was reasonably priced although it was a small pour. I wouldn't go out of my way to return but overall we had an ok time.

Haven't been for a few years. And it is hard to find a place open on Mondays since covid19. It was our 29th anniversary. Food was good. Service was great. The place had a good early crowd for a Monday. A little expensive but not bad.

Very cozy space. I had the steak and eggs which was cooked perfectly. My daughter enjoyed her French toast. We also shared a mimosa flight which was delicious.

I tried their brunch - Vegetarian burger, breakfast burrito, French toast and cold brew. Everything was delicious. The French toast was fluffy on the inside and crispy outside The space is cozy and service was friendly Too

The waitstaff were very nice! The food was solid, not outstanding, albeit overpriced. $16 for 3 pancakes with a few strawberries and cream. $15 for 1 vegetarian burger. The atmosphere is very homey and nice and I love the location of this little restaurant. The waitstaff, vibe, and drink selection are what bring regulars back again and again.

excellent experience at 224! came around 12 on a sunday afternoon and were seated immediately. menu has a mix of traditional breakfast items and some speciality dishes. the southwest omelette was to die for with the green goddess sauce and the crispy potatoes. would definitely come back here if i’m in boston again soon!

Food 10/10 Drinks 10/10 Ambiance 10/10 Heard this place was a secret gem and it’s definitely a gem! My boyfriend had short rib and loveeeed it, wished it was larger but because of how good it was he didn’t care! The cod was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Only in town for a few days but on our next trip we will definitely be stopping here again! Ordered the Gin Blossom and it was light and tasty, the Old Friend was a great twist on a Manhattan. (Definitely took a few bites before taking a picture since it looked so good)

It had been many years since I had been. And it was for dinner as well. I like dinner better I think. The setting is wonderful. The outside with its cool old vines and seating area. Inside has maintained its charm. The food was tasty and service was great. Prices are ok here. I don't know maybe I wasn't feeling it. But I would come back here for another dinner. Remember local businesses first!!

The shrimp linguine was delicious, I would have liked it warmer and definitely more sauce; by the end of the dish I felt it cold and dry hence 4 stars. I had “Old friend” cocktail with it; the glass was sticky; and way too much bitters in it. kind of like dropped a tablespoon instead of teaspoon; I could stomach that not sure if everyone can.

Great oyster special. Everything else was kind of pricey for what you get, but we loved the atmosphere.

Honestly one of my favorite spots in Boston. The portions are amazing for the price. Friendly staff and the manager Matt is great!

Prices are a little high and the decor is a tad too rustic. Food and service was perfect, worth the price!
