Merchant was recommended by the concierge at LanghamBoston. Loved it from the moment we walked in! Great ambiance. Our waiter was top notch (forgot his name, but he is from Ireland). Great crab cakes! We got the small ones from the bar menu. Plenty of crunch on the outside, and overall, quite flavorful. The slow roasted chicken breast with mashed potatoes was by far the best chicken I've ever had! They had a porter beer on tap, which is testament to their great selection. We came back for a 2nd visit during our short Boston vacation, and the chicken was just as amazing. Between the two visits, we also had honey truffle wild mushroom risotto... the kids called it exquisite..., shrimp cocktail, chicken wings, a burger, a ham/baby arugula/nectarine/25 yr balsamic salad (an absolute festival of flavors), and a phenomenal strawberry tart. I couldn't drag a single complaint from any of my group of 6. I guess my only complaint is that Merchant is 1,388 miles from my house.

Everything was absolutely delicious! I had the mussels which I eat often and these may have been the best I have ever had. Not only were the actual mussels big and cooked perfectly - the pineapple/coconut broth was so unique I actually had to eat the bread which I rarely do. There was also a great pepper/onion mix that was a great surprise addition. Everyone else lived their meals as well. I never do reviews but my meal so delicious just wanted to share. Will definitely be back if I’m ever in the area.

Stopped by on a Friday night and surprisingly it wasn't busy. We came here just for the oysters (HH till 9pm). The oysters were pretty good and fresh. After ordering 50 oysters split between two, I now what my limit is :)

Great food. Swordfish was absolutely delicious, as well as the burger. Bulgogi sandwich was really nice too. We ordered steak frites medium rare and it came almost rare, nonetheless it was good. Tasty cocktails, good selection of beer. Great service, efficient and friendly.

The $1 oysters were pretty good. The fries and fish tacos were solid too. Good selection of beers and cocktails. Service was really slow and our table was in such a dark area you couldn’t read the menu.

Beautiful bar, oysters were so good the 3 of us ate 2 dozen. Cocktails were good, not exceptional. Ordered more food that we never got, but it was on the check and bartenders/managers never realized so the service was a little spotty. Just popped in for oysters and drinks so I can't give a full, fair review. Clean great place, nice people, amazing oysters

It's a beautiful bar/ restaurant. I only stopped for a drink to get out of the rain.

Excellent service and very good food. It was a bit loud for me, but it does seem to be partially a sports bar, so that's to be expected. The mixed green salad and bang bang cauliflower were excellent.

Enjoyed the $1 oysters! Light and fresh. Tried out the gnocchi and fish tacos - gnocchi was great but very rich, tacos had great balance of flavor and freshness. Also had a couple of cocktails - Palomino and Amalfi were very good. Would come back on our quest to find a go-to oyster happy hour (liked that it runs 4-9 pm on Fridays)

Ordered the Steak Frites. Fine dish overall but nothing that wow’ed me. The fries could’ve been warmer. Ordered a cocktail that was good. Service was attentive. Not a bad option if you’re in that part of town but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return there.
