Anchalee Thai Cuisine 1094-1096 Dwight Way/San Pablo Ave., Poet’s Corner, (510) 848-4015. L-D daily. brick-wall interior of Anchalee Thai Cuisine in Berkeley, California. Featuring a high ceiling and natural red brick walls, this atmospheric spot roars when all the seats are full. When fewer people show up, it can be cozy and intimate. Service is always polite and prompt. Though lunch specials are enticing, they don’t include extras. Among my favorites, Gai Yang Somtum is flattened grilled skinless chicken served with papaya salad, sticky rice, and a delicious plum sauce. Also very good is Kao Ob Mor Din, a flavorful combination of rice with prawns and chicken baked in a clay pot. Next time I plan to try one of the noodle dishes and a curry. An extensive vegetarian menu is also available.
Gustatory. Yes. Charming and understated. Prompt service. Interesting wind list. Pleasant, would go back again. Next to Cafe Trieste, good place for gelato for desert.
BEST THAI RESTAURANT EVER! Well in my opinion. At Thai restaurants I usually stick with pad Thai but I decided to switch it up and get the yellow curry and OH MAN was it good. Really artistic and beautiful plating! they also have the best mango and sticky rice I have ever tasted! And I've had a lot of different mango and sticky rice desserts...A LOT
Wonderful atmosphere and a new vegetarian menu make this great place truly veg-friendly now too
