Historic Boone Tavern is a weel-known landmark in Central Kentucky. It is very inviting and has a distinctive, historic feel. Some things to keep in mind when traveling here. The beds are smaller than typical hotel beds. I could not find an iron or ironing board in my room. The edge of the sink is beveled which made it extremely difficult when setting anything down on it when getting ready in the morning. Everything kept falling in the sink. The food however is worth the trip. Many locals will travel here just to dine in the restaurant. Would return again, but will bring my own iron. 😊

Love this place. Have been three times in the past couple of years. Thoroughly impressed with service & atmosphere. Located on the campus of Berea College, the tavern employs college students who are fulfilling required work hours while gaining valuable life experience. The tavern rooms are reasonably priced, many have nice views & retain the charming atmosphere of yesteryear. The tavern restaurant offers classic Kentucky fare with modern updates. Don’t miss the Hot Brown & spoon bread!

Love the atmosphere and the town itself. The service was wonderful. The spoon bread was great and gluten free. The French onion soup was so delicious. Loved the salads we had too!

My favorite thing about B.T. is the atmosphere. It's not loud and chaotic like many restaurants, rather It's quiet and calming, relaxing. I hope they bring back the Sunday brunch buffet. It was a home run! Also, last year, I attended an overnight business retreat at B.T. The staff members were a delight in planning and assisting.

The atmosphere and service were amazing!! Alex was wonderful, warm and friendly!! The reason for the 2 stars was the food. I had the chicken, small portion for the price, vegetables were and potatoes were cut with little or no knife skills. The chicken was dry and the sauce lacked any depth of flavor. My wife had the lamb chops, good flavor served medium well not medium rare, asparagus was over cooked and the potatoes were the same as mine, randomly cut and cook to different consistency. To finish off the meal we had the only dessert made in house, bourbon bread pudding. This was the worst bread pudding I ever ate! Dry chunks of stale bread, no custard base and a sauce that lacked any finesse.

Very cool property, and this community and college are terrific. The restaurant looks awesome in pictures but needs serious help in management and training... food was very inconsistent, but at big city fairly high-end pricing. A couple items were decent to good. The most expensive entree on the menu was cooked to death and under seasoned, and after waiting forever was told that a key component was unavailable. The big issue is with the service... essentially untrained, painful to watch, leading to zero bussing of our table or the two empty ones near us, excruciating waits, no attention, and ultimately feeling like we wanted to escape but were held prisoner by the check. Somebody call Restaurant Impossible! This place’s mission is too important for it to be a mess.

Wonderful early 20th century luxury hotel at modern modest pricing. Excellent restaurant. Students from Berea College earn room and board working here. Proceeds from the inn and tavern go to support the mission of the college.
