Ate here on a Saturday evening. The atmosphere is a little loud but we were seated right away and enjoyed the complementary chips and salsa. I order the steak fajitas and they were delicious. Really good portion size.

I tried to call in a to-go order so it would be ready when I got there. I left work, and dialed their number. The waitress immediately asked me to hold when she picked up and I agreed. She didn't actually put the phone on hold so I was able to hear her continue to chat with customers at the bar, and go about her business. Which is to say she didn't seem very busy. I was still on hold 15 minutes later when I walked in and so I just stayed on the phone. I watched as she puttered around the bar checking on her customers who all seemed to be pretty well taken care of... still on the phone still on hold. She finally seemed to notice her phone was more or less off the hook and picked it up and asked if I wanted to place an order. I said yes, but that I was already at the bar so she might as well turn around and take my order in person. She slowly turned around to see me waving at her. I said "hi" into my phone since she still had hers up to her ear. She nonchalantly put her phone on the receiver and walked over saying, "You must have been on hold for a while." As if this happens 10 times a day. And no apology. I ordered nachos, they were very good and made to my liking. The wait staff needs a little more training. The Bar tender is supposed to be the best waiter in the establishment. If she cant even offer an apology for a long hold time...

Placed my order through Waitr for delivery one of my taco salads did not have any meat the other had a spoonful. Went to the restaurant to get order corrected and the manager was no help blaming it on Waitr. I expressed that I ordered the food from this restaurant and you were responsible for making it correctly. Manager was no help so I left and got a refund I didn’t trust them with my food!

Please stop everything you’re doing and go to La Carreta on Bluebonnet in Baton Rouge. I sincerely believe they must have a whole vegetable garden on-site somewhere because the avocados and tomatoes and veggies on my avocado steak salad were so fresh and perfectly ripe. They tasted like someone plucked it from the garden and put it on the plate. It was probably the best salad I’ve ever had. Honestly couldn’t make it any better if I tried including the grilled fajita steak which was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. Reece was a great server and checked in on us often, not that we needed much because our food was flawless. 50/10 would recommend. Definitely best tex mex in Baton Rouge. I’m about to join an email list or something because I’m def coming back here, and I’m genuinely upset I haven’t been coming here for the last 7 years that I’ve been in BR.

The server was great, but the restaurant is majorly lacking. It took two hours to get food to the table and then my tortilla soup had one price of chicken and three tortilla strips. $5.25 is a lot for three chips, one piece of chicken and broth. This was a poor experience for a first time visit.

Great family atmosphere, mix between casual and formal. La carreta's has a wide selection of delicious food for all ages and a kids coloring menu. Excellent service. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants for a girls night or family birthday.

Our server was very slow and kept going to the kitchen instead of checking to refill our water or chips and salsa. There were barely any customers at the time.. there’s no reason to not be responsive to a table of two.. She also got our bill wrong and proceeded to laugh about it saying she got ours mixed up with another table’s. My wife’s food was cold as well. Going to Superior next time we’re feeling Mexican food.
