I love the Chinese food in Omi!! They offer both Japanese and Chinese but I always come here for some good authentic Chinese food in Baton Rouge. They are always open until 10pm which saves me a lot when I get off super late and are super hungry and don't want to cook at home. They usually are not too busy so when you walk in you can sit anywhere. Their interior is family friendly and while it's not as modern as many restaurant I don't mind it, they haven't changed in years and it feels comfortable for me. Some dishes can be oily and salty but there are plenty of dishes that is not so depending on your taste, it be wise to ask the waitress for recommendation and if you wanted less salty. Some of my favorite dishes include house eggplant (favorite veggie bowl), Omi pork (braised pork with potato in a pot), spicy crispy intestine (fried intestine if you want to try something different), Chinese bbq lamp skewers (meat skewers with spices), and more. I do recommend to try different things here to see what you like and it's a great place for gatherings that wants a bit more authentic Chinese food in town.

Ordered lunch here while staying at the Drury Inn across the parking lot. We ordered sashimi and flounder bento boxes with sides of egg drop soup and hot & sour soup. The sashimi was generously proportioned and the California roll was tasty, but not tacky from being boxed. The hot and sour soup was very hearty, but without being too thick or overly seasoned. The egg drop soup was like I've had it on Chinese commercial vessels, lightly flavored with bits of tomato. The founder was very tasty and enjoyable. I plan on eating here again and would recommend this restaurant to anyone staying in the area.

Omi is THE place to go for authentic Chinese dishes. My favorite plates are any of the pork belly dishes and lamb hot pot. The pork belly and taro is the bomb!

I think Omi is a great value but very misunderstood. The food is authentic and the contents of each dish is very fresh. GO if you want REAL Chinese dishes, expertly prepared with fresh ingredients and are a vegetarian. DON'T GO if you can't use chopsticks, ask for a spicy dish but then complain it is too spicy and don't go if you want $100 worth of ambience and a $12 meal. Just order from one of the franchise food mills.

The best Chinese food in Baton Rouge. A lot of the reviews are complaining about the Japanese food, but this is a restaurant owned by Chinese people. Don't go here for Sushi. The bamboo shoot pork is the best Chinese food I've had in my life! The service here is always great and if you go at certain times you get free hot and sour soup which is delicious and watermelon with your bill.

The food was excellent - steamed dumplings, spicy cumin beef, sesame chicken - the service was average. If I wanted a refill on my drink I had to flag down a member of the wait staff. There were three of us, and all of our food came out at different times. But the food! So good as to make any minor aggravation worth it.
