Review Michael's Steak & Lobster Hse - Baltimore

My partner and I patronized this establishment 11-25-23. We were promptly greeted and seated. Our server Oscar was tentative and polite. I ordered a (Medium Well) Sirloin & Lobster Combo. My man ordered the Sirloin & Crab Cakes Combo. There was a bit of a wait for our food to come out. I'm unsure the actual reason but it happens sometimes, no big deal. My steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. We both agreed our steaks were delicious! I would recommend this location and specifically the Sirloin Steak.

Went to Michael's for my birthday as a less expensive alternative to Ruth's or Capital Grille. This place is old school in every sense of the word. Noticeable cleaning agent smell and weird drink menus made ordering a little challenging. The food saved the day though. We got stuffed mushrooms and crab balls and both were tasty and excellent. Entrees ranged from crab cakes to fish to NY Strip to 32oz prime rib. All of them were served to perfection. Trust me when I say you won't go home hungry and will likely take home leftovers too. Prime rib was supérb, yet Fred Flintstone sized. NY strip was great too. A little on on the med-rare side, but not enough to send back. Crab cakes were great and made traditionally without a majority of filler. Everyone loved the food. If you're feeling nostalgic, then this is the place to go. The decor is old school but the food was excellent. Drawback: tip was included on the bill (we had 5 at the table). Recommended.

I'm rating this all 5s given my initial experience amd since they say 1st impressions count then that's my reason. After 2hrs of trying to decode what to eat and more so trying to find a parking spot in downtown, I pulled up Michael's in Google maps headed for the unknown. On arriving parking was easy (and free; street as well as there are spaces in the back) and we were met by Brooke our server who made sure that 2hr delay was quickly satisfied. If you love a good steak get the 40oz Porter House, you won't regret it. 👌🏽

This is a hidden gem in Baltimore. I really enjoyed the food, the service was phenomenal and a wonderful atmosphere. I was there for lunch and it was a little quiet, which just made everything great. The Ribwich was humongous and so flavorful.

Very classic family owned restaurant no fancy decor or frills but the food and service is always good. I’ve actually been here several times to enjoy their nightly specials as well as reserve the private room for a birthday party and everything was great! The prime rib is phenomenal as well as their other amazing specials. I’ve never had the lobster ironically. Most of my visits are spent at the bar, it can get a nice crowd of people on the weekends but during the week it’s easy in and out. If you haven’t been here you should definitely check them out.

Don’t be fooled by the appearance. This place is packed full with flavor!!! Went during restaurant week and was delighted. The service was excellent. The steaks were huge. And the crab chowder was full of crab meat. The imperial was chunks of crab. I can’t believe this is my first time patronizing the establishment. They appear to have daily specials ( you can get a 26oz steak for $17 on Tuesday). The baklava is made fresh and warm when it comes to your table. The bread was massive and warm! First impression is the charm and I’m impressed. Too much food to finish the meal. The vegetables are lacking, but everything else over shadowed them so no loss there.

I’ve been several times over the last 2 years with friends—ok how can I say this—- I think this is my favorite spot for steak, excellent service, good times with friends, and good seafood— I could be here all day talking about how 5/star this place is— Just go trust me go!

I found this great place because it was highly recommended on Google. And I would very much agree with the high rating. Parking was easy, I was seated very quickly upon arrival and received very prompt service and food. I got the feeling that this was a regular place for the locals which is always a good sign. The Monday night special 24 oz. prime rib for $16 was an excellent entree and a great value. Seldom have I had any better. I would definitely go back and recommend everyone give this place a try.

It’s like stepping back in time- in a good way. Friendly family-owned restaurant with straightforward steak focused offerings. Not the choicest aged-cuts you can find but generous and good value for money spent. Love in the food. Each day of the week has a special offering! Tuesday is Prime rib day while Thursday is steak night.

Food and drinks were excellent. My husband enjoyed the 40oz porterhouse and I had the stuffed flounder. I had a delicious long drop. We will definitely return.

I have lived in Baltimore for over 30 years and have driven by this place hundreds of times but never went in, and now I'm kicking myself for it. It has a nice warm feel on the inside, a full bar and the food was outstanding. They don't just sell seafood either, there were Greek and Italian options as well. For the quality of food and the portions they give you, the pricing is great. They have a parking lot on the side of the building as well as some on street in the front. All of the servers there treat you like family and that's really rare, you can tell that they are treated well by the management. I was blown away by the experience there, you won't be disappointed!!!!!

The place looks kinda dated, the steak I can personally say was cooked to perfection as well as to order. If you're looking for crab cakes, this is the place, very tasty

The food was good but not for $30 tip mandatory tip especially when there's a boy laying down on the bar with his shoes on

We heard about the 40oz steak and my bf had to take it on. He was pleasantly surprised. He said it was delicious and juicy. I had the crabcake egg roll. Service was quick and the wait staff and bus boy was friendly. Will definitely be back. Perfect for date night.

Took my father to Michael's today to celebrate his birthday. We decided to get off the restaurant week special. The Maryland crab soup was very tasty and had a lot of flavor. The cream of crab flavor tasted okay but lacked some flavor that other cream of crab soups in the area have. The clams casino was also very excellent and had good flavors. The dirty Chesapeake soup was flavorful but the MD crab soup overpowered the soup For our entree's two of us got the Md crab cakes. The crab cakes were the BEST we have ever had. We also had a Prime rib. The portion was HUGE and had so much au jus with it. The NY steak with two shrimp was very good cooked to perfection and had very good flavoring . The filet mignon stuffed with crab imperial was out of this world. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to our friends and family and will be back sometime in the future.

The crab soup had no flavor whatsoever ordered a fillet mignon and it was a piece of Chuck roast the food was terrible I wouldn’t recommend anybody to eat there don’t waste your money we were done eating and then the french fries came out the place is absolutely sucks service is bad do not go there

We went to Michael's yesterday for my husband's birthday. We both had a cup of soup, cream of crab and MD crab. My cream of crab was delicious. It was just the right consistency and had lumps of crabmeat. The MD crab was also very flavorful. We both ordered a lunch special, rockfish stuffed with crab imperial. The fish was so succulent and the imperial was delicious with the right amount of seasoning. The portions were very generous and very reasonable. The waiter also gave us a hot loaf of bread and butter. His service was great. We both had to bring some food home because we were so filled. We're going back very soon. The lunch specials are great.

My wife and I went here. First of all it is located on a dimly lit section of a Main Street with poor signage. The parking lot reminds me of a scene from Friday the 13th, no lighting, holes in the pavement, unmarked changes in the pitch of the pavement and broken glass booze bottles everywhere. Once you walk in you feel like your in a time warp right back to 1980. The building has a peculiar odor like Ben Gay, filth, mold and mildew. The air vents had a layer of fury mold consistency material surrounding them. The food has no flavor salt and pepper the basics, if you can't get that right your not a chef. The crab dip that we ordered came out brown in color and tasted like paste. Crabcakes are made with jumbo lump swimming crab from a can, granted there is no filler it's all crab but there is no seasoning at all. Aren't you located in Maryland? How about some Old Bay? The prime rib came out with a 1 1/2 inch on one side 1/2 inch on the other side. So half was rubber and the other half bloody. The Aujus looked like dirty dishwater with a layer of fat globules floating on top. Again no seasoning. The hostess and bartender have to be sisters they look identical. The hostess had the personality of luke warm dog poop. We ordered drinks and they came out made with a cheap liquor rather then the top shelf we paid for. When we complained she got the same attitude and facial features that the hostess had. Wait staff is the only thing that was satisfactory with our experience, satisfactory not exceptional we have had just as good at many other local establishments. I can only hope that this is the next local establishment that falls prey to a string of closings.

My Wife and I have been here numerous times. The food has ALWAYS been excellent! Typically the Service has been too...except, last night.... I asked for an Ice Tea without lemon..came with lemon. The Wife ordered the Crab Cake Special with a baked potatoe. The Waiter stated the potatoe was extra when it always has been included. He then came back and said it was included and we saved $3.... Her Cream of Crab soup came out promptly, but needed more Old Bay. When our food arrived, I instructed the Waiter to keep my Salad that he never brought me. As compensation for not bringing my salad, here are the offers he made. Buy you a cup of Coffee...No Thanks You buy a Coffee, and I'll give you a Dessert....No Thanks, I had ordered the 40oz Steak I'll refill you Iced Tea????? Check Please! Thought refills were free....

I don't usually post negative comments, but I had to take a moment to share my experience at Michael's Steak and Lobster House on Eastern Avenue. Mom Taft wanted to go there Saturday night to celebrate Mother's Day. This was my first time eating at Michael's and definitely "My Last". The service started out great with Rosa. We were a party of 9 and my food was good, but Trish A. Taft and Mom Taft got crab cakes that were too dry. Mom Taft didn't eat the crab cake and painstakingly took her it home, as she did not want to make a fuss. Trish didn't eat the crab cake and let our waitress Rosa know that it was dry and asked for a fresh one. Rosa returned and said the the manager, Penny said that she wasn't cooking another one or taking it off the bill. Since the manager never came to talk with her, Trish went to talk to Penny who came over to THOROUGHLY EXAMINE the crab cake and point out areas where she thought possibly part of the meat was missing or it looked like crumbs. According to Penny, the restaurant's policy is NO recooking, NO refunds and NO discounts. She spent approximately 5 minutes explaining part of the crust missing. After 20 minutes of holding the plate up, and pointing at the edges, she took the crab cake back, stormed off and reduced the price. Where's the customer service/satisfaction at this place? Sacrificing a $247 bill and repeat customers for a crab cake and 9 satisfied customers. Rude and unprofessional Penny would rather tell you everything that she wasn't going to do than resolve the issue. She didn't even care enough to initially come to the table. This is the kind of business that doesn't appreciate our dollars. I just had to let my voice be heard. I've done a bit of traveling around the world for Uncle Sam and sampled Steaks everywhere I've been. Who would have thought I'd find the best piece of Steak anywhere, here in my own backyard at Michael's but truth be told, they have perfected the art. If you haven't sampled their offering you are missing a singular epicurean delight.

I have been going to Michael's for around 20 years and it is simply one of Baltimore's Best. The beef and seafood are simply outstanding. Awesome prime rib, crab cakes and steamed crabs. The Gerapatritus family and their staff are friendly and treat you like royalty.

Opportunity for potential. I surprised hubby w lunch at this establishment for Restaurant Week and it wasn't how I imagined. Dining room was small and outdated. Our waiter was awesome. He was attentive and consistent. We ordered the Cream of Crab and MD Crab Soup. The Cream of Crab Soup had a great presentation but was nothing more than a base mix and hot water w limited crab. MD Crab soup had a great consistency, nice presentation. Sadly bland and flavorless. I ordered the Broiled Crab Cake. It was well done but I liked it. Hubby didn't and considered it more on the burnt side. Irequested to have it w/o Imperial Glaze to avoid egg allergy. I thought it had a great amount of Crab Meat and was prepped well. Hubby ordered the Filet Mignon (well done) and was pleased. It was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. He ordered String Beans as a side that he couldn't stomach. He described the String Beans as being nasty and cooked in MD Crab Soup broth. I was disappointed that they didn't carry Coke Cola products considering they had a bar. After eating I visited the ladies room and it was smelly (sewage), outdated and tiny. Although this restaurant had it's pros, the cons outweighed them.

The best Prime Rib around. You will not pick around fat, pure Meat. To die for Lobster. Great place for holding a party

The food here is top notch and priced for everyone’s budget. The staff is friendly and genuine. It’s a family friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome. I love ❤️ Michaels.

I was pleasantly surprised by this great local place. I was looking for a great prime rib and through Yelp found this spot. The outside looked sketchy but I am so grateful that I went inside and gave it a chance. It is clear it is a local favorite. The prices were great and the prime rib I had was awesome. I found my new steakhouse!!!

Never disappointed. The food is always excellent. The staff is professional. I like the atmosphere. Thanks again!

The food was phenomenal! I can't wait to go back again and try even more menu items. My husband cut his filet mignon with the side of his fork! I topped my soft crab with crab imperial that was absolutely incredible.

Hidden gem located in East Baltimore. Really good crab cakes. Also the best Cream of Crab soup that I ever had.

Things were slow last night. However it was because there were many patrons coming in to eat. French onion soup was excellent. I had a problem eating my prime rib. I cannot chew meat with any marbling in it. However it had a good taste for what I could eat. My son enjoyed his steak. Next visit I’ll go for crab cakes and etc.
