Cuban Cafe

Short and sweet version at the bottom. Myself and my family have visited this resturant several times before writing this review. They do have a facebook page where they update the public with any changes or closures of the business so for those who just want to be sure go check that out. That being said, I was born and raised in Miami, Fl and am Cuban myself. This food is as close as you can get to "authentic" cuban food in Bakersfield! Every plate is outstanding and tastes just like the food back in Miami (or very close to it). Its a very small business with only a handful of employees, including one waitress. Everyone there is always polite and eager to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Small location tucked away in a unusual surrounding area so i never wouldve known this place existed if someone hadnt told me about it. Very family friendly! If they were located somewhere closer to the downtown or high traffic areas, basically anywhere more in the public eye, there would be no doubt that they would always be swamped and eventually have to expand. Real Cuban food that you can taste that Cuban love! ♡! I had a little Café Cubano to start 😘, and the Piña Colada with the meal. The Pescado with veggies on top is so delicioso. The black beans are on point. And i love how they get the Platanos Maduros just right! The service is so warm and sweety, like visiting family that you love to see. As stuffed as my husband and were we had to have Arroz con Leche 😍❤ and I can truly say it is the BEST Arroz con Leche I've ever had! The restaurant is quaint and very clean; it gives a very modern feel of an old Pueblo. And it's the special ingredients of 'Mama Love' that's in the food that really makes this Cuban Restaurant so perfect.

I ordered the cubano sandwich, my first. Thoroughly enjoyed. The fried plantains we're a bit bland, but nothing salt couldn't fix. While the service is warm and friendly, it is a bit slow. I'm not sure it was unique to our visit. But, if your lunch time is limited, you might see if you can call in your order. I'll be coming back to try many of the other items that sounded delicious. It's definitely a repeat.

For a hole in the wall Cuban Cafe, this place is amazing from the owners, food and atmosphere! The food is authentic, coming from someone who is Cuban and Spaniard, the flavor of the food, music and dessert brings back fond memories of my childhood of my grand mother's & mom's cooking. I've been here numerous times trying all of the dishes on the menu and have not been disappointed. The best part is the food is prepared when ordered and not ahead of time. I will continue to return here with my large family often! I hope more people experience such a wonderful place and share it with others.

Our experience started really badly. The person who greeted us was rude and unwilling to assist us. I was with a party of five. We requested a specific table and were told it was for six or more people and we could not have it. We decided to stay despite the horrendous customer service. The food is delicious! The flavors And textures are perfect. The portions are huge! Everyone in my group was very pleased with their choices. We all agreed this is a great place for lunch.
