Taco Cabana can be hit or miss but this location is definitely a hit if you visit most weekdays during the day. Evenings tend to be busy and the food tends to be mediocre during these times.

So much better than Taco Bell for Mexican food to go. The drive thru was quick and correct.
I had a bad experience here turned good. The manager was great and was happy to fix my problem. Now, my two favorite things to do at T.C. Are (1) get a retried bean and cheese and add steak fajita meat to it. Something about the inexpensive combo always hits the spot. (2) the other is the best/cheapest little meal in town: as a college kid, my buddies would order a dozen tortillas, a big side dish of beans, and a side of rice. Then we would stash up on the fresh salsa bar and make a batch of "roll your own" burritos. For about $6.00 three hungry guys could share a decent meal. Hard to beat for the 01:00am munchies.

As far as Mexican style fast food goes, taco cabana is the best. The staff at the manchaca/slaughter location are consistently friendly and polite, that goes a long way.
Taco Cabana is a fast food restaurant, no doubt. When you walk in, it could be a Taco Bell or any other similar restaurant with the tile floors and formica countertop and industrial kitchen. But there was one thing I noticed right away that was different...the tortilla maker. Right there at the front, just behind the cash register was a large round machine with three levels. Sitting on it were balls of dough, and at the bottom, you could see completed tortillas that had gone through the press.
I usually come to this location when I am picking up breakfast tacos for my coworkers. I get 2 dozen breakfast tacos and let me tell you, I've been to other locations for their dozen taco boxes and this place by far does the best! I've gone to other locations where they give me very skimpy, cold tacos, but this location always makes them hot and fresh, and they do not skip on the ingredients! They usually only have 2 or 3 ladies working first thing in the mornings, so to see them knock out big orders so flawlessly is very impressive.
They loaded on the chicken, but they forgot the rest. I love the fresh made flour tortillas!! 🤠
I stopped at this Taco Cabana Thursday morning around 8:30am. I was the only customer inside but the drive thru was very busy. Food arrived within 3-4 minutes after I placed the order. Everything was freshly made and hot very tasty. I devoured an egg and cheese burrito with salsa Verde and salsa Fuego. Never had any issues at any Taco Cabana locations if they make mistakes they always have corrected their mistakes.
This is a highly recommended location.
Had some great chicken burritos, my only issue was that the burrito could have had a little more chicken and less refried beans. The beans over shadowed the flavor of the chicken. My friends son really enjoys the bean and cheese tacos as well as the chicken tacos. My daughter had the chicken tacos for the first time and loved it. Both kids are picky eaters so that really says something about the food I got. The customer service was great but the order monitor has been destroyed and that could push people away.
A great place for a romantic dinner with its cozy setting and candlelit tables, and the staff's knowledge of the menu and wine pairings is impressive.
This is the only good Taco Cabana in Austin. Will change my review once I have a bad experience here.

Food was great but the guy in the drive thru threw my Oreo churros container in a small bag, spilling the sugar toppings over everything. Just really careless.

Great food , great customer service ! I honestly have never been to a better Taco cabana whatever the manger is doing keep it up . I have seen a huge difference within the past four months. I will definitely be back .
