Pros: I love the space - the open feel, great lighting. The staff is friendly The coffee is good. Seating is comfy. I like this part of town. Cons: No prices on the menu Too expensive, in my opinion. I'd rather order and wait for my drink to be made than stand in line while people order and wait for drinks. You know, the good ol' Starbucks method. The parking situation isn't great. I didn't notice very many outlets for prolonged laptop use.

The coffee was great, the setup was awesome! Found one of the staff members to be very rude and unwelcoming which is the only let down

Houndstooth makes some great coffee, and there’s plenty of seating, but the baristas here are what really sets this place apart from other coffee shops. They are all so nice and create such a good atmosphere in the coffee shop. The matcha drinks here are great as well, highly recommend those. Only downside, which other reviews have mentioned, is that there are no outlets.

The coffee here is delicious ( I had a cortado) but the service led me to write a review. The two guys behind the counter were friendly and neighborly, and even gave my dog a treat. Good service good coffee

Aethetics, 5 stars Food, 4 stars Friendliness/vibe, 3 stars Coffee, 4 stars Parking, 4 stars Trendy, clean, and modern coffee spot with good (not great) coffee, good music, and kind of weirdly standoffish baristas. Like snooty, unsmiling, matter of fact kind of energy from the moment I walked in. For sheer quality and deliciousness of coffee, I prefer Fleet coffee nearby. But Fleet only has outdoor seating, so this place is probably better for working or studying if you don't mind a louder space.

Kudos to Rebecca and Tatum for slings the finest caffeine in this here neighborhood. Bonus points for the cool (temp) speakeasy like entrance and the reference to half-n-half as “we need more brev…” as in breve. Love it!!!!

This review is from the perspective of a cyclist. Bike parking isn't great but there are three spots about 50 feet up the hill. The barista was efficient and made my drink exactly how I would at home. He seemed miffed about something though. The treat selection was a bit low but it was 10am when I arrived. Overall a good place to stop on your ride.

Great coffee and pastries, super sweet people behind the bar. I accidentally broke a cup while bussing my table, the barista was super nice about it - not only did she decline my offer to pay for it, she was also empathetic saying this happened often, and her first instinct was to say “don’t cut yourself”. Go get a coffee here, support the awesome people at this cafe!

While the space is a bit boring and doesn't have much character (except for the small wall of dog photos which makes up for this quite a bit), this is still a fine coffee shop where you can get some work done, chat with a friend, or enjoy your coffee alone. It's usually not too busy or loud, the coffee never makes me say "wow" but is still good enough for me to want to finish it. If you happen to be over here, there are definitely better options, but once you'd tried those other options you should stop through here.

I rarely write reviews while still in the establishment but I feel inclined to now. My drinks (cold brew, iced coffee, and hot matcha latte with lavender) were outstanding. This is the most balanced and smooth matcha/lavender I've ever had, and I've tried many. The environment is the perfect, clean, comfortable and "easy" place to have coffee. Ordering to receiving coffee was extremely quick, and prices were spot on.

Awesome chai latte! A much better chai flavor without having to request 6 pumps as I do at Starbucks, and still barely tasting the chai. This one gets my 100% thumbs up. As an added bonus, the staff was super friendly! 👍🏽👍🏽💯

This is an awesome Houndstooth location. In addition to the great tacos, the staff (especially Julian) is really friendly and nice. They also have great music playing at the perfect volume. Lots of seating and a very clean space, I would definitley come back!

I can see parking being a nuisance here - thankfully we got here pretty early and were able to get a street parking spot easily. The latte was delicious. Properly bloomed with the milk and I could actually follow the espresso description with my palate. Always appreciate that! The guy working the counter was super nice too. Great staff! Would happily revisit in future visits to Austin! Also - that area would likely be COMPLETELY different the next time I come. Gentrification happens fast in Austin lol.

Excellent single source and blended coffees expertly roasted and lovingly crafted into near perfect espresso drinks. You can also get pour over coffee and a full range of beer, cocktails, and liquor. The MLK location light and spacious with plenty of places to sit at tables and bar stools. The decor is minimalist modern with more than a nod to mid-century sensibilities. Great place to study, work, or just hangout with friends.

I came to Houndstooth early in the morning on a Saturday (I know, I’m crazy) and the staff was super helpful telling me about their menu and tea choices even though I was super slow because I had never been here before. The aesthetic is very pleasing here. The big leather chairs, wood accents, and white walls make for a relaxing environment.

Houndstooth wins again with their new MLK location. Always a great experience with superior service and fantastic coffee. A newly built interior impresses the eye and creates a great atmosphere. It’s obvious culture is important to this brand, and it shows. Most importantly is their dedication to delivering a well crafted cup of coffee. I appreciate that they have continued with a strong focus on their roasting that is consistent with each cup served. Houndstooth is a welcome addition to the East Side!
