The customer service was the best experience I have ever had from any Subway I have been to. I'm from California and was treated with hospitality as soon as I walked in the door. My coffee was brought to my table without me asking. No Subway in California has ever done that for me.

I don't usually eat at Subway, because of the variation from franchise to franchise, but this location did not disappoint... I really enjoyed my experience and my lunch today.

Downtown harbors one of Austin's best dining districts, and it's lovely to linger over conscientiously prepared, served, and presented culinary accomplishments, but I don't always have two hours and fifty bucks to linger. Sometimes I want something reasonably tasty and nutritious that fits in the forty-five minutes between bus and movie, and Subway on Congress is the perfect answer. With global chains like Subway the ideal toward which each avatar struggles is well defined, and of course the ideal is tasty and fresh. Freshness is Subway's logo expressed not visually but on the palate. The Congress store comes close to the corporate ideal. So close, in fact, that I have once or twice considered ditching the movie for one more sandwich. One of these days I will.
