Cherry Creek Catfish, where the blackened catfish, butterfly battered shrimp, and gumbo are the rock stars of the menu—seriously, they could headline a culinary concert. Our family taste-tested our way through, and most dishes nailed it, but then there's the mac and cheese thinking it's auditioning for a microwavable talent show, the fried okra doing its best impression of a leftover superstar, and the barbecue ribs with a dryness level that rivals my sense of humor. On the brighter side, the atmosphere is cozier than a blanket fort, and the service is so on point they probably know my food preferences better than I do. Oh, those sides, though—they're like the awkward dancers at a party desperately in need of rhythm. Cherry Creek Catfish, you're the quirky friend who brings the laughs and the food—it's a package deal!
I used to go here with my family as a kid on special occasions. It’s just the same! Nice food, very down home vibe. The hush puppies are especially tasty. Food comes fast and is consistent
First of all, I simply felt at home, like the old Austin in this place. This restaurant has a very Texas home cooking kinda vibe to it. It felt familiar to me. It reminds me of restaurants when I was a kid growing up in Austin. A gem that didn’t change with all the gentrification in town. The food and sweet tea only made the experience even better. Servings were big, make sure to come on an empty stomach. The staff was super friendly and helpful with recommendations. I personally recommend the fried mushrooms appetizer and the chocolate lovers pie desert (not in the photos because I ate them so quickly 😅). I will be back!
Love love love it !!! Haven’t had catfish in years and honestly this place is amazing. Loved the shrimp tacos the sauce on them is amazing. Honestly the service was fantastic . Definitely returning.

This place is the best from the food, service, and atmosphere! Everything is delicious! We drive all the way from San Antonio to get some great seafood! Please open up one San Antonio and send the cook there too! But until then, we'll keep coming to Austin to get our seafood fix!

I ordered from Cherry Creek Catfish a few times for delivery and quickly fell in love with their catfish. Today decided to check out this place in person for lunch. It’s located in an older shopping center, but the place stands out with nice signage and nice catfish artwork in the exterior wall.
As I walked inside I noticed the place was very busy, but luckily a table was open. The place had great atmosphere and the menu had a lot of choices to choose from. I ordered the Catfish Po’ Boy which was four strips of fried catfish in a toasted roll with tartar sauce, lettuce and tomato, and fries.
When it arrived I notice a huge po’ boy, cut in half with a bunch of fries. This was definitely a huge meal. The catfish was very hot, moist and full of flavor. The breading was very crispy and delightful. It was a struggle to eat, so eventually had to use a fork to eat the catfish. It all blended very well and the fries were good too.
Add in a very friendly staff this place provided a great environment for bayou food.
I ordered coffee and it was cold. I ordered a baked potato and butter wouldn't even melt. My husband and I have been going here for about 10-12 yrs. Good and service has always been good. Maybe just an off day. We will continue to dine here because it's just the first time this happens. Also I think our waiter was new because we haven't seen him here before.
Everything was delicious! Portions are big and service was amazing! Only note is that everything here has a lot of oil and butter, but delicious and expected, so not complaining. Fried okra was amazing!
REAL comfort food! I’ve always loved seafood and hate when places feel the need to do “too much” with it, I happily can’t say the same for this place!
Cherry Creek is a go to spot for any seafood lovers. From the corn fritters and gumbo to the fried shrimp and fish, top to bottom this place excels. You can expect consistently great food, attentive and friendly staff and a feeling like your on the beaches of Corpus Christi. Can’t recommend enough!
Jessica was AMAZING and gave us a perfect dining experience. Food was out FAST. I hate tartar sauce but tried the hush puppies and dipped them in the sauce it came with - WOW! 🤩
Shrimp po boy was amazing and the “small” chicken fried steak was as big as the plate.

Cherry Creek catfish has more dishes than just catfish, which is delicious. Tonight I chose the chicken fried steak dinner with mashed potatoes instead of french fries. I also got the sweet potato fries for an appetizer. These were delicious. And the amount of food was more than I could eat so I was able to bring enough home for a small meal. And I always like that! The friends I went with got the triple platter that includes ribs and fish and sweet potato fries. And for appetizers they had fried pickles and fried mushrooms. I have pictures of all of this for you to look at. The waiter we had was attentive to our needs and brought our food in a timely manner so that it was hot and very tasty. Everyone in their wore their mask until eating and the tables were spaced apart for the six feet distance. I am in a wheelchair and the hostess was very kind and seeding me with taking the chair away and putting me at a table close enough for me to move around. I hope you enjoy the pictures that I took, especially of the support dog, Ruby Tuesday, who was chowing down on one of the ribs from his owner.
This is a great old school style eatery with a specialty in southern comfort food. Cherry Creek may have “catfish” in its name but they also have excellent chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak. They have barbeque ribs as well. The side dishes are also excellent, the green beans stand out, in particular. Save some space for desserts as well, the chocolate and key lime pies are both good choices. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. You will jot be disappointed with your meal here.
It's always a good night when Cherry Creek happens. This was the first catfish restaurant we would come to when I was a kid in Austin. The recipes have been solid since. Simple country fried options with some Cajun dishes that hit home every time...I don't eat fried food often, but when I do it's Cherry Creek.
I had the fried catfish and shrimp combo with the squash and mac and cheese. FANTASTIC! Yummy, perfectly crispy, generous portions, what's not to like?
Not only that, my family did a BIG to go order for a gathering and they did it right with nothing missing, even right down to our sauce requests. Highly recommend!
