The Ginger Man (Austin) is one of a few Ginger Man pubs around Texas and has been serving up beer to the people of Austin since 1994 (the original location is a block away). The focus has always been on good beer in a traditional pub space, complete with beer garden out the back and a dartboard.
I really loved the ambiance this place. Books everywhere comfortable couches, nice lil outdoor area for smokers, plenty of beers to try, darts for fun. Def a fav bar. The sandwhich i had was quite excellent too!
Many Beers. It's true, it's true, there's lots of different beers on tap here. Kind of a basic, make your own atmosphere place. Good for getting down to the main cask, er.. task.
It's really hard not to like a beer garden. I can't say much of the menu was a bit turn on, but the empanadas were tasty... perhaps a little heavy on the bread, but it was spiced well. The beer selection here really is top notch, although I've experienced (and heard from others) that they are regularly out of many of the options. I suppose it's challenging to keep that level of variety stocked.
Best tap selection in Austin. Pyramid apricot on tap? What more can a girl ask for?
How many beers on tap? 100's. With hundred's of beers on tap, why go anywhere else. They have the *real* Chimay and serve english ales from a draught tap like they're supposed to be served. If you're a beer snob, this is your place.
Great ambiance. A must visit for anyone in the Austin area if you like beer, cider or wine. They hVe an excellent patio area as well

We always come here everytime we party and drink in downtown Austin. The place have tons of local tap beers and beers from around the world.

My husband and I visited The Ginger Man last night. We loved it! Both of us are craft beer drinkers, and there were plenty of beers to choose from. The atmosphere is very cool and laid back. It wasn't too loud nor too crowded. The bar tender was super helpful and checked on us often. Thanks for a good date night location! We had a blast.

During my hunt for 512's "Pecan Porter," an Austin resident informed me of a place that that has over 75 beers on tap. Eureka!
Not only did they have the beer in which I was searching, but they had plenty of beers in the same category, and much, much more. The wall of taps is actually pretty insane.
The bar is on the small side, but when I went in on a Sunday night, it was not crowded, so the vibe was home-like and cozy, and I was very comfortable.
The bartender knew his stuff, and was happy to recommend beers that would cater to my palette, and did so with success. The prices were great too.
The only thing that would take this bar to the next level, is if they implemented a better quality menu of sorts. I was pretty hungry when I went in, and even moreso after a got a few brews in my belly. The pizza slice I ordered just didn't do it for me. It would have been awesome to get some sort of hearty sandwich or something more fulfilling.
Regardless, the bar and beers are great, so if a bigger kitchen is not a possibility with their venue/layout/license/whatever, I will still be back.
There's no place like beer, there's no place like beer. And it is much cleaner here than some of their other locations. Nice happy hour specials. Good selection on tap. The bartenders are great with helping you find a beer to enjoy. Sample and ask for recommendations.
This is my favorite bar in Austin. It's very comfortable with a great music selection and great service. The staff is knowledgeable about all the drafts. There are always seasonal and limited-supply brews to keep it interesting. Occasionally there are special events, such as the Valentine's Day chocolate and beer tasting, and music. I highly recommend it ... if you like beer.
I haven't lived in Austin long, but this is by far my favorite bar in town. They have so many beer choices, and they let you sample any you are not sure about before you order. The outdoor patio is great too! I love this place!
Ridiculous beer selection on tap with a very comfortable atmosphere. It can get crowded, but that's what happens when you have an awesome place where everyone wants to be. Was going to give 4 stars because it's hard to find a table sometimes, but then I realized that's the sign of a good bar! Highly recommended.
