How did I not know of this place earlier? It’s a hidden gem - the food, the service and I can’t say enough about the romantic feel of the place, especially the outside patio area where they have lights strung between the oak trees and live music playing in the background. I was there for a girls’ birthday dinner but can’t wait to bring my hubby back for a romantic dinner date.

Visiting from New Orleans for Thanksgiving, we were delighted by this fresh and creative spin on traditional southern fare. The biscuit and chicken were the favorites, but had a lot of competition. All of our food and wine was suggested by our server, Brad G, who knew and explained the menu and flavor profiles of every single item. He was gracious and attentive to our every need. Mattie’s at Green Pastures will be a must on future visits to Austin!

Amazing! The setting is incredible; check out the whole estate! Super friendly staff, fantastic cocktails! I'm vegetarian, and stuck to sides. They didn't disappoint! Great crispy cauliflower and spinach goat cheese salad. I loved the buttermilk buscuits, but they were undercooked, the insides still had some raw dough. That's my only complaint though! Best dining experience ever!

Excellent service, food and drinks! Such a charming and unique place. Fried chicken eggs benedict...YUM. One of the top 10 dishes I've ever had.

Second trip to Mattie’s - this time for Thanksgiving 2017, and have decided to make this my destination every trip! The staff obviously enjoys their job, and is warm, engaging, and delivers unprentious but confident service. The atmosphere of “green pastures” makes for the best dining experience under beautiful live ancient live oaks that seem to watch over the establishment and greet their guests at the same time. Beautiful white peacocks walking the property so proudly. The food delivers an absolute dining pleasure. Matttie’s can deliver a romantic small experience or a celebratory group. It’s a must do for Austin!

As the Concierge to a 5 star hotel I truly enjoyed my time and meal at Mattie’s! It was phenomenal! I highly recommend this establishment to my friends and family! Be sure to check out the Milk Punch for an after meal special!!!! CHEERS!

The prices are better than the old Green Pastures and the menu is more focused and creative. The cocktails are rich in flavor and the biscuits... Oh Mah Gawd the biscuits....

A beautiful dining experience for brunch with my parents! My Dad is a freshman State Legislator and he and my Mom are new to Austin. She hasn't been to many spots during session so I've been dying to take her to some cool ATX places. She must have mentioned how wonderful it was 6 different times! Thank you for helping us have a memorable day! We'll be back asap!!

Brought my family here for a weekend brunch and absolutely enjoyed every moment of it. I rarely commend a brunch place about their coffee but Mattie’s really outdone themselves.
Definitely try their milk puff french toast and their well known buttermilk biscuits. Also their burgers and seasonal bison benedict are very savory.
Mattie’s requires advanced reservations so be sure to book your time!
Will definitely come back for brunch and try their dinner!

Food, service and atmosphere is impeccable. Is a must visit if you like southern food. We ordered plenty of food. The bar makes exotic cocktails. We got the crispy cauliflower, salmon tartare and biscuits for appetizers. The biscuits were phenomenal. Then for mains we got the rib eye steak, pork chop , fried chicken steak and the seafood stew with shrimp and snapper. Everything was great but the pork chop just killed it. We also got kids chicken tenders and Mac and cheese which they loved. We were very full but for dessert we got the sundae and it was yum ! There were pretty peacocks 🦚 roaming around in the yard.

Oh my goodness!!!! I’ve lived in Austin since 1981 and never made here when it was Green Pastures but I am so happy that I made it tonight to Mattie’s. From the Pimento cheese & Fried Green Tomatoes appetizers to our Back Porch Tea & 1965 Milk Punch drink to our Mattie’s Fried Chicken… oh and the Hummingbird Cake was a perfect ending to this well perfect
dinner was Perfection! 😘 Everything we ordered & shared was just wonderful. We sat outside under the twinkle lights & a massive oak tree that was truly magnificent & beautiful! The old home is glorious!! This is a must date night, family night or just friends special night out place that you must put on you list! You won’t be disappointed 🥰.

Really different from what I'm used to, but it was a nice experience. I really loved the calm atmosphere. They were a bit busy when we arrived so we sat on the patio. It wasn't too hot with the misting fans and it was around 7PM. Service was a bit slow in the beginning....I think the host forgot to tell the server about us.
But once we got their attention the service was great. I tried the fried green tomatoes which came with a crab salad, it was delicious and refreshing. For my main dish I got the fried chicken plate. The chicken was cooked to crispy perfection and seasoned well. The mashed potatoes were covered with bacon, cheese and butter, just the way I like it!! Overall great experience!

Mattie’s is so beautiful! Like walking into the old south! Formerly known as Green Pastures, Mattie’s kept me favorite drink on the menu - Milk Punch. A must-try alcoholic beverage made with brandy and ice cream. Served in small cups for a reason!!
Brunch is amazing. Our group had the pimento cheese appetizer, followed by the Classic Breakfast, burgers, a Lobster Cobb (amazing!) and the Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict (I dream about this dish! )
Brunch was very busy but they were able to seat us inside the bar area (it was too hot outside). I think we were forgotten for a bit (this no 5 ⭐️ for service) but everyone was friendly and the food was delicious. Highly recommend!!

OMG! I have not been here in 30 years. Totally different restaurant concept, but the food is still amazing. I would characterize the restaurant as upscale southern cooking. The building is an old style southern mansion with peacocks roaming the grounds. The gumbo was outstanding although surprisingly spicy hot. Fried chicken perfectly seasoned and delicious.

As you drive in, you can already tell how gorgeous the grounds are. The pathway up to the house is brick and classic. Gorgeous trees with lights set the mood. Inside the house it feels super classic from the decor to the style of outfit that all the staff wears. It’s so beautiful we are looking at it for our venue. Once you sit down to eat, it gets even better. Absolutely delicious food from the biscuits and rainbow carrot appetizers to the rice bowl and burger. Everything was cooked perfectly and had a ton of flavor. Very unique. 10/10 would recommend for a date night or to rent for a special event!!

Came here for Sunday brunch. The drinks were great, one of them, the Sage Advice was phenomenal! Insane flavours!
The meal itself was quite underwhelming tho. The dishes we ordered were average. The toast wasn’t eve toasted properly and was quite soggy. The croque madame was $24 but wasn’t worth neither the presentation nor the quality for the ingredients in my opinion.
Quite hyped spot, perhaps not best to come for brunch. The place is cute, just quite disappointed with the actual dishes. If it was cheaper perhaps it would have made more sense.

This place deserve a heart on your Google map. The restaurant is in a beautiful southern style mansion. The entrance is easy to miss if you drive too fast. Gorgeous building and great food. Make sure you read about the history of the building and Mattie’s family.

Mattie’s is a real southern gem. We absolutely adore the atmosphere. The property transports you back in time and you can easily imagine the family that used to live in the house walking through its halls. The food is sublime (fried chicken is a MUST for first timers). We’ll be back time and time again. I recommend ensuring you sit on the patio or indoors. If you sit in the picnic area you get quite removed from the rest of the restaurant and the service gets VERY slow. We’ve sat in the picnic area twice and this was the case both times. It’s not enough to ruin the experience, though. Mattie’s is an easy favorite that we strongly recommend.

Delicious southern food. Fast friendly service. Loved the fried chicken, brussel sprouts and biscuits with honey. Are at the bar and it was a pleasant experience

My wife and I have been coming back here every year for our anniversary since we got married at Green Pastures. The service and food is top notch, buttermilk biscuits, crispy cauliflower, fried green tomatoes, little gem wedge, seared salmon, grilled pork ribs and the porch tea to drink are our favorites! We had leftovers so expect healthy servings.
Now about the property, such a charming and quaint place in the middle of town. We usually eat outside to enjoy watching the peacocks but the weather was a bit cold so we sat inside. No complaints there, the house is well kept with a great vibe. Can’t go wrong with Mattie’s, cheers!!!

Great place for cocktails and brunch. There are many brunch options. We had the breakfast plate with sausage. It comes with potatoes - nice and crisp, sauted in red sauce. Toast or biscuits can be ordered separately. The tea cocktail with bourbon was nice and refreshing, topped with fresh mint. The coffee was very good too. The French toast, with berry compote, was flat out awesome. The portions are big, so order accordingly.

I went in for a late lunch to Mattie’s. We got the Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict and the burger with a side of bacon. For an appetizer we got the buttermilk biscuits with strawberry butter which was delicious. The food was amazing but the ambience was even better. They even have peacocks roaming around the property. Will definitely be back soon to check out the dinner menu. Strongly recommend this place if in Austin.

One of the best restaurants we have ever been to. Atmosphere is so good. Customer friendly service. Good amount of options for vegetarians too. Buttermilk biscuits is a must try. Peacocks presence makes it more special.

Went to Austin for a girl's weekend and was looking for a good brunch spot. When we arrived, we waited about 10 minutes for our table- (had a reservation) didn't mind this, as it gave us time to meander around the house. When one of the waiters saw me taking photos of the fireplace and portrait, he stopped and told us the entire history of the building, and the family that had initially opened the restaurant. This small gesture of stopping what he was doing when he could've ignored us is the epitome of excellent customer service, and wish I got his name. We were seated outside on the porch, and it was perfect. We ordered the biscuits to start, because I'm pretty sure it's required in the South, and ooh boy do not miss out. Our service was so prompt even our waitress was shocked at how quickly our food came out. Everything tasted fantastic, the ambiance and location was exactly what we were looking for, and the service was the best out of anywhere we went in Austin. Highly recommend!

Mattie's is AWESOME. It's easy to get restaurant fatigue here in Austin, and Mattie's is worth a trip. With its gorgeous historic setting, we enjoyed a fabulous evening with drinks (fresh squeezed juice) and snacks (FAR better than average) in the bar. Food, service, ambiance all perfect. Highly recommend!

Mattie's was the highlight of our trip! The property is incredible, pictures don't make justice to how beautiful the place is. Outside is this lovely green place with peacocks everywhere and inside the house is magnificent.
The food is even better. We had amazing food and drinks. My favorite was the fried chicken and Brussel sprouts.

What a phenomenal conversion of a plantation style mansion to a restaurant. So much history and charm. Oh, did I mention the food?? A little secret… It’s world class. Delicious!
