How did I not know of this place earlier? It’s a hidden gem - the food, the service and I can’t say enough about the romantic feel of the place, especially the outside patio area where they have lights strung between the oak trees and live music playing in the background. I was there for a girls’ birthday dinner but can’t wait to bring my hubby back for a romantic dinner date.

Visiting from New Orleans for Thanksgiving, we were delighted by this fresh and creative spin on traditional southern fare. The biscuit and chicken were the favorites, but had a lot of competition. All of our food and wine was suggested by our server, Brad G, who knew and explained the menu and flavor profiles of every single item. He was gracious and attentive to our every need. Mattie’s at Green Pastures will be a must on future visits to Austin!

Brought my family here for a weekend brunch and absolutely enjoyed every moment of it. I rarely commend a brunch place about their coffee but Mattie’s really outdone themselves. Definitely try their milk puff french toast and their well known buttermilk biscuits. Also their burgers and seasonal bison benedict are very savory. Mattie’s requires advanced reservations so be sure to book your time! Will definitely come back for brunch and try their dinner!

Food, service and atmosphere is impeccable. Is a must visit if you like southern food. We ordered plenty of food. The bar makes exotic cocktails. We got the crispy cauliflower, salmon tartare and biscuits for appetizers. The biscuits were phenomenal. Then for mains we got the rib eye steak, pork chop , fried chicken steak and the seafood stew with shrimp and snapper. Everything was great but the pork chop just killed it. We also got kids chicken tenders and Mac and cheese which they loved. We were very full but for dessert we got the sundae and it was yum ! There were pretty peacocks 🦚 roaming around in the yard.

Oh my goodness!!!! I’ve lived in Austin since 1981 and never made here when it was Green Pastures but I am so happy that I made it tonight to Mattie’s. From the Pimento cheese & Fried Green Tomatoes appetizers to our Back Porch Tea & 1965 Milk Punch drink to our Mattie’s Fried Chicken… oh and the Hummingbird Cake was a perfect ending to this well perfect dinner was Perfection! 😘 Everything we ordered & shared was just wonderful. We sat outside under the twinkle lights & a massive oak tree that was truly magnificent & beautiful! The old home is glorious!! This is a must date night, family night or just friends special night out place that you must put on you list! You won’t be disappointed 🥰.

Really different from what I'm used to, but it was a nice experience. I really loved the calm atmosphere. They were a bit busy when we arrived so we sat on the patio. It wasn't too hot with the misting fans and it was around 7PM. Service was a bit slow in the beginning....I think the host forgot to tell the server about us. But once we got their attention the service was great. I tried the fried green tomatoes which came with a crab salad, it was delicious and refreshing. For my main dish I got the fried chicken plate. The chicken was cooked to crispy perfection and seasoned well. The mashed potatoes were covered with bacon, cheese and butter, just the way I like it!! Overall great experience!

Mattie’s is so beautiful! Like walking into the old south! Formerly known as Green Pastures, Mattie’s kept me favorite drink on the menu - Milk Punch. A must-try alcoholic beverage made with brandy and ice cream. Served in small cups for a reason!! Brunch is amazing. Our group had the pimento cheese appetizer, followed by the Classic Breakfast, burgers, a Lobster Cobb (amazing!) and the Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict (I dream about this dish! ) Brunch was very busy but they were able to seat us inside the bar area (it was too hot outside). I think we were forgotten for a bit (this no 5 ⭐️ for service) but everyone was friendly and the food was delicious. Highly recommend!!

OMG! I have not been here in 30 years. Totally different restaurant concept, but the food is still amazing. I would characterize the restaurant as upscale southern cooking. The building is an old style southern mansion with peacocks roaming the grounds. The gumbo was outstanding although surprisingly spicy hot. Fried chicken perfectly seasoned and delicious.

As you drive in, you can already tell how gorgeous the grounds are. The pathway up to the house is brick and classic. Gorgeous trees with lights set the mood. Inside the house it feels super classic from the decor to the style of outfit that all the staff wears. It’s so beautiful we are looking at it for our venue. Once you sit down to eat, it gets even better. Absolutely delicious food from the biscuits and rainbow carrot appetizers to the rice bowl and burger. Everything was cooked perfectly and had a ton of flavor. Very unique. 10/10 would recommend for a date night or to rent for a special event!!

Came here for Sunday brunch. The drinks were great, one of them, the Sage Advice was phenomenal! Insane flavours! The meal itself was quite underwhelming tho. The dishes we ordered were average. The toast wasn’t eve toasted properly and was quite soggy. The croque madame was $24 but wasn’t worth neither the presentation nor the quality for the ingredients in my opinion. Quite hyped spot, perhaps not best to come for brunch. The place is cute, just quite disappointed with the actual dishes. If it was cheaper perhaps it would have made more sense.

This place deserve a heart on your Google map. The restaurant is in a beautiful southern style mansion. The entrance is easy to miss if you drive too fast. Gorgeous building and great food. Make sure you read about the history of the building and Mattie’s family.

Mattie’s is a real southern gem. We absolutely adore the atmosphere. The property transports you back in time and you can easily imagine the family that used to live in the house walking through its halls. The food is sublime (fried chicken is a MUST for first timers). We’ll be back time and time again. I recommend ensuring you sit on the patio or indoors. If you sit in the picnic area you get quite removed from the rest of the restaurant and the service gets VERY slow. We’ve sat in the picnic area twice and this was the case both times. It’s not enough to ruin the experience, though. Mattie’s is an easy favorite that we strongly recommend.
