Steak 'n Shake

I thought it would be fun to take the kids to Steak and Shake and have hamburgers and milkshakes for lunch. Although the service was good and the food was okay, the restaurant was awful. The booth that we sat in had rips and tears in it and the stuffing was coming out. I also happened to notice that several of the other booths also had tears in the upholstery. The floors were nasty. The windows and doors were nasty and had fingerprints and greasy hand prints all over them. There was a television on the wall that did not work and was coated in grease and dirt and fingerprints. It was extremely unsightly. One of the bar stools was missing and they had just taken a silverware basket and shoved over the pole. I went to the ladies room and the bathroom door was jammed open because it was uneven and stuck on the tile. I could not get it to close. Also, the stall door in the bathroom was broken so in order to not be fully exposed to everyone in the restaurant, I had to hold on to the stall door while trying to go to the bathroom so it would not fly open and everyone would see me because as I mentioned before the actual bathroom door was also jammed open. I noticed that there were at least three people there who look like they were management and they were all on their phones scrolling and talking and laughing. This restaurant needs a serious overhaul and to be completely hosed down from top to bottom with a pressure washer. It would also be nice if someone would come in and takes the bathroom door.

All around poor experience. We came here on a Sunday around 4:15. There was no one in the drive-through, maybe two or three cars in the lot. The cashier running drive-through sounded like she wasn't too enthused with life in general. She was on her phone when we pulled around to pay. The food took way too long to come out for what we ordered--a frisco melt, cookie dough shake, and kid's burger with pre-packaged applesauce and apple juice. The bun on the kid's burger was cool. The burger was lukewarm and had nothing on it at all! She didn't put a spoon in for the applesauce, and didn't put ketchup in the bag or even ask if we needed any condiments. My husband's frisco wasn't toasted. They just buttered the bread. He thoroughly enjoyed his shake, but we both wished we had just driven one more minute down the road and ordered at Cookout. This restaurant needs a serious overhaul. From the busted drive thru order screen covered with a paper sign that stated "ORDER HERE", to nobody even monitoring the intercom, the overall cleanliness of the inside and outside of the establishment, and general apathetic attitude coming from the employees. Waited at the drive thru intercom for about 3 minutes with nobody to greet me on the other side. I finally drove up to the window and waited for another minute or so before the lady cleaning in front of the window to come over so I could ask her if there was an issue with the intercom. She told me that it was down, and that they weren't taking drive thru orders. If you're not taking drive thru orders, at least have the decency to take the sign down that says "ORDER HERE". There is no excuse for this type of awful service from any restaurant.

Exceptional experience. The food was good, and I never thought I would write a review this good for a fast food place. The only reason this isn’t five stars is because it took 15 minutes for my brother to get the shake he ordered. Our waitress loved us and we loved her. She knew exactly how to wait a table!

When this restaurant first opened a few years ago, it was superb. However, it has slowly degraded and now it is gross. Everything feels greasy inside. It gives off a gross appearence, and reminds me of the grill from downtown. We have had similar issues with rude wait staff and ridiculous wait times as other people have had. After eating today though, there were a large number of my fries that were green. This should not happen. Furthermore, I got sick later. Steak n' Shake use to be awesome, but it has gone downhill.... 😕
