Pretty good. Had the sashimi deluxe and a roll. Great service.
Lots of food, friendly service, ample parking. I attended a meeting earlier this week at Ichiban in Biltmore (behind the old Lowe's site), enjoyed the meeting and thought the food was plentiful if far from gourmet standard. Not sure how the sushi or sashimi is here, as nearly all in our group seemed to have one of the hibachi dinners.
I had the filet mignon and chicken hibachi dinner combo ($18.95), which comes with a clear soup (okay if you like broth), a small salad (iceberg lettuce and tasteless), tons of fried rice and vegetables (mainly onions and broccoli and squash), a couple of grilled shrimp and large servings of grilled chicken and filet, which was very tender. It was as much or more than any one person could finish, and I, who am far from being a bird-like eater, took home a sizeable box of food.
The "chefs" -- as at other Japanese restaurants of this type -- put on a hokey show, but I must admire the waiter and cooks for managing to keep all orders and bills straight for a group of 20 or so, all of whom got separate checks. Service was prompt and friendly.
The atmosphere was a little noisy, and the U-shape seating around two grills is not particularly ideal for group interaction, but the atmosphere was pleasant and the meal was filling, to say the least. A plus is the ample free parking near the restaurant.
This is the kind of place I'd probably take my nephews for a hearty meal. I'm not saying I wouldn't go back myself, but I'd have to be up for an all-you-can kind of spot without a lot of delicacy or nuance.
With the mandatory 20% group tip, and a Japanese beer, I think my meal came to about $32, reasonable for the amount of food.
Best and most authentic sushi in town. I moved here from the west coast and was really concerned that I would never find the really excellent sushi I took for granted for so long. This is the sushi bar that gave me that sigh of relief and although I've sampled some others, this is my go-to, consistently great place and has been for a decade. Sitting at the sushi bar, you almost always get the interactions with other customers that I love in sushi bars, the prices are fair, the servings are generous and the ingredients are gorgeous and fresh. The sushi chefs are first rate, fast and talkative and watching them is entertainment in itself. From the sushi bar you can see and hear all the showmanship going on in the hibachi area, which is fun - I've never eaten anything but sushi there, but it definitely adds to the atmosphere. Their sushi rice is perfect, and on a good day you can even get fresh grated wasabi, a real rarity here. This (and their sister restaurants) is the only place I would take friends visiting from the coast and feel confident that it will be a great experience.
Fantastic!. Checked this place out based on the reviews on here and it certainly liked up to them. We had great service and very large portions. I got one of the box dinners and it was seriously enough to feed two people for sure and it was so very good. Plus it is close to the Biltmore!
Good sushi. Most people just think of this place for the cool hibachi grill shows, but i really like the sushi. I usually go to the sushi bar as opposed to the grill.
Decent food for a good price. The sushi was the only thing i wasent crazy about could have just been a bad day though other then that the food was very good and my steak was cooked perfect its hard to find but worth the trip
My Pick EVERY Time I'm In Asheville. Always fresh with a broad selection on their menu. Excellent service and they often have TORO available, which many other sushi restaurants are either unable or unwilling to offer.
Bumping into Andie McDowell every now and then isn't a bad thing either!
So Good. We where there on Jan 7th. I had a hard problem making up my mind on what I wanted? At first I wanted the Imperial Filet with Chicken and Shrimp. I settled on Strip and Scallops which turned very well, the only problem I had was I ordered my beef rare and it was served med. The hibachi chef was a little distracted by the pouring snow but all in all it was very good. Not many people there that night which made it all the better.
Best Sushi we have had. This place was very good in every way. A lot of times when I have had Sushi it was pretty bland that was not the case here. I had the King Crab Sushi and she had the spicy crab sushi. Not only were they very tasty but the presentation was exceptional. The King Crab was in nice tall triangles and the spicy crab was definitely spicy.
I also had the teryaki chicken that was plentyful. Honestly if they just served me the onions from this dish I would have been more than happy. Even the kid sized shrimp teriayki was a nice sized dish and very good.
Last but not the least the service was prompt and knowledgable. They also have Hibachi too so you can get your total fix here.
I celebrated my birthday at Ichiban in Asheville, and it was an absolutely amazing experience! The staff was accommodating, and even though reservations weren't necessary, we chose to do so anyway and they had our seats ready and waiting.
The hibachi chef was not only a culinary maestro but also kept us entertained with his humor—it was like dinner and a show.
Special attention was given to our gluten-free needs, ensuring our food remained separate. To top it off, they surprised us with complimentary sushi for my birthday, and the staff sang a sweet tune to make it a truly memorable and delicious celebration. Five stars without a doubt
We had reservations for 5:30 and were nicely greeted and seated promptly. The waiter was spot on and took our drink orders right away. He also had a great personality and was very personable and friendly. Shortly thereafter, our chef arrived and after checking our orders began cooking. He put on a great show and was really funny as well. I had the Filet, Jumbo Shrimp, and Chicken. The Filet was cooked just right and was tender, juicy and delicious. The Shrimp was supposed to be Jumbo Shrimp and it was actually regular sized Shrimp, but still it was delicious. The Chicken was very good, but I thought it was a little dry. I probably won’t order it again if we come back. Large, I mean large portions and we all had plenty to take home. A little pricey but everyone thought that the food and the show were well worth the price.
Pretty good sushi!! The miso soup, rainbow roll, Philly Hand roll and salmon sashimi. They gave me a crab salad complimentary as well. I'll admit the hand roll isn't my usual style but I still enjoyed it. Next time I'll probably stick to the regular Philly sushi roll. Would definitely go back again.
We went for dinner I had chicken and shrimp teriyaki, wife had scallops hibachi, son had chicken and scallops hibachi and his girlfriend had shrimp and scallops hibachi food was delicious. The show that they do while cooking is always such much fun. The waitress that took order got drinks did a great job too.
Fantastic food. Alcoholic beverages were delicious and pretty strong. Service was impeccable! I'm not a fan of carrots, but these were tasty. Very busy when we visited, but they took great care of us. Very fast in the restaurant side and very clean.
I forgot to take a picture of the sushi, but my fiance got several options including eel and said it was delicious.
The food was amazing and the chef was definitely humorous. We went there for a birthday dinner and were definitely not disappointed.
First time here and was pleasantly surprised by how friendly the staff was. Service was great from waiting at the bar before our table was ready to the crew that cooked and refilled our drinks. The food was delicious the filet tender, the chicken juicy, and the shrimp cooked just right. We’ve gone to other hibachi places before but the service and food here stick out above the others. Will happily return with more friends and family!! Cheers!!
Best Hibachi in the area! We’ve been here a few times and it’s always delicious. The lunch portions are huge and the clear soup has great flavor!
Went here for Christmas Eve dinner. We went to two other places that were closed because it was Christmas eve. I was very happy to find this place. It was really busy but we didn't wait too long. We waited only for a couple of minutes since we wanted sushi. Habachi was a 30 minutes wait. The server was very nice. The food didn't take too long to get to the table. We waited about 5 minutes. All the dishes was very good. Good favor. Not too salty.
For a busy restaurant, their restroom was clean, which is a plus.
Always great hibachi and sushi options. Ichiban has been consistent and delicious for the 23 years I've been enjoying their food. Good for parties at the cooktops, good for date night, good for families. Highly recommend to locals and tourists!
