The best grits I've ever had. I'm no grits conesseur but there are several places in Orlando that have fantastic grits, bacon and Bleu cheese, shrimp and grits etc., But these were plain grits, no frills yet the best I've ever had.
The bacon was great and the servings are plentiful. Great little diner, I'd definitely come back again and again.
Tastee Diner is the only Diner in West Asheville, the only real diner. Everything on the menu is amazingly good, particularly the fried chicken. Although to be honest I have the bacon and egg sandwich almost every time I eat there. ;)
Delicious soul food, good service, however it must be noted Tori is on another level of skill that you can see from a mile away; I can't remember the last time I experienced such a perfect balance of providing the right amount of attention along with everything I needed and without any iota of pressure and with such a warm friendliness that is 100% genuine. All the food is made with quality ingredients (you can see, feel, and taste). The trout or catfish po boy will humble you. The bodegas are amazing, the burgers are smash-style and out of this world. The sous chef slapped a honey bun on the grill and it turned into something decadent. Truly a holy eating experience over at Tastee ya'll. Everything is really super amazing here.
Chef Geoff Keeps elevating this dive diner to the next level! We've been several times since he's taken it over and love everything about it! The funky interior, the amazing food combos and great drink/cocktail selections! Keep creating Chef and the rest of you reading this, get down there any treat your palate!!
We both had the tastee breakfast platter with included eggs, sausage, bacon, hash, and a giant pancake. It was delicious and filling. The eggs and sausage were a little too salty for my taste but the pancake made up for it in deliciousness. The coffee is run of the mill diner coffee. The vibe was fun and the service was quick and friendly. Would recommend visiting before spending the day exploring Asheville.
My husband and I stopped here for a late brunch after hiking and it was our favorite meal on our trip. I kind of wish I was hungover for this meal bc it would have cured my regret and hangover haze right away, I'm sure.
We got ...a lot. The poutine, mixed green salad, fried chicken grits bowl with sausage gravy, and the yard bird sandwich with tater salad.
Everything was hot and fresh and each dish had its own razzle dazzle twist. The grits were to die for -- the fried herbs on the grit bowl *chefs kiss*. The crisp and seasoning on the fries, nailed it. The salad with its hidden gems of pickled veggies, homemade crunchies, and dressing - refreshing. And the pasilla 'tater salad...best I've ever had. Spicy, tangy, and topped with more home made seed/puffed grain/spicy Cheeto/doritos/witchcraft magic crumble on top. (Management -seriously please reply and give me some clues as to what's in that.)
Service was great and lovely outdoor seating. Can't wait to add this to our regular rotation for our next trip. We're stuffed, otherwise we'd be back for dinner.
Came in on a Friday evening. My partner had the Aux Burger, and I had the fish and chips. Service was great. Very cozy atmosphere that is definitely an upgrade from the previous owners. Food is 4 stars only because my fried fish looked like the oil was slightly old. Was still delicious and highly recommended.
Tucked away on Haywood road in West Asheville. Rumored to be Ashevilles oldest restaurant at 80 years strong.
At lunch the diner favorites. I had a 🍔 burger with a twist! I had peach gazpacho as my side. The soup was perfectly balanced. At night this spot turns into an ultra fine dining restaurant. The chef taught culinary arts for 10 years. I noticed caviar on the menu. The night menu is ever changing. Shout out to Justin and Taylor!
Not messing around with their oysters. Got 6 fatties for 1.50 each.
Menu changes throughout the day. Come after 5 for the main grub.
Really fun quirky interior.
The staff are amazing and genuine. My partner and I went around 2:30 p. m on a Sunday which was perfect timing. Surely the brunch hours were extremely busy but when we went it was quiet and empty. The atmosphere was mellow and warm, the food was above average for breakfast. The server caught me taking a bite of my boyfriend's smash burger and didn't even tell on me.
It’s a diner and they serve slightly reimagined classic dishes. Instead of chicken and waffles it’s chicken and pancake. Stuff like that. It’s Waffle House prices but the food quality is much higher and the staff might be high too. For this place, that’s alright and it fits the area pretty well. It’s a top tier restaurant within its price point.
What a delicious lunch at this unique diner! This place is not short on character and the food and service matches the vibe.
My wife and I were greeted by the friendly staff and sat in the main dining area. We took a few minutes to look over the menu as our server let us know about the breakfast items that were served all day as well as the specials they were running. We ordered a Brisket Po Boy and the Aux Burger with a side or crinkle fries, sesame noodles, and a side salad. EVERYTHING was delicious! Both the Po Boy and Burger were simple but very well executed. The server told us the burger meat was sourced from a local farm in Boone so that was a plus! The crinkle fries were well seasoned, the sesame noodles were packed with flavor, and the salad was light and refreshing. After lunch we asked the server if there were any dessert options. He said technically no but they have a homemade banana bread they like to cook French toast style and top with local chocolate. We said bring it on and we were not disappointed! It was a perfectly just-sweet-enough end to a delicious meal.
Tastee Diner is a must eat when visiting Asheville and if you live there, lucky you because you get to go all the time! We will definitely be coming back whenever we are in Asheville! Thank you Tastee Diner team for a wonderful meal!
