I’ve been going to Sai Ram ever since they stopped doing the lunch buffet and when the original owners were still there. The lunch buffet was an awesome deal and the food was always delicious. I regret not going there more often when they were still doing it. Anyways, I digress. I’ve gone to Sai Ram a few times now since the new owners took over and I’m glad the food and price is still the same.
The restaurant has a darker atmosphere due to the dim lights and dark colors of the wall. You have the option of booth or table. No bar/bar seating although they do serve alcoholic beverages. The décor is very Indian theme as you would expect and you can enjoy Indian music as you dine in. The restaurant is on the smaller end and be prepared to wait during prime dinner times. Especially on weekends.
I’ve never experienced issues with the wait staff here. They usually get to you in a timely manner, check on you if you have questions about the menu or just to see how everything is going once you get your food. The length it takes to get your food can vary depending on how busy the restaurant is but the wait is no longer than 20-30 minutes for the main course at least. Appetizers and drinks are served pretty quick.
The dish I always get is the chicken makhani or known as butter chicken and comes served with basmati rice. Its tandoori chicken cooked in puree of tomatoes, spices, and other ingredients creating an orange creamy colored sauce. The dish is very aromatic and buttery hence the name. It can be spicy or mild based on your preference but I usually do spicy. Naan is a must when eating here. It compliments any dish and is usually eaten in a traditional Indian meal. It’s so good dipped into the sauce. I’ve tried many of the other dishes as well and you can’t go wrong with anything here really.
They have a variety of Indian beverages and imported Indian beer. They do have domestics and craft beer as well. All of the alcoholic beverages are bottled or can. No beer on tap here. Wine is also on the menu. I’ve had one of the non-alcoholic beverage but I wasn’t a huge fan. It was the mango lassi which I believe is supposed to be a milk shake. However, it was really runny.
Overall, this is definitely a place to try out if you are in the Fox Valley area. The food and staff is excellent.
Wonderful food, great staff! Makhani chicken, mild because I can't tolerate heat, garlic naan, pakora - both spinach and potato, and a mango lassi. The lassi was a bit sweeter than I am used to, but still delicious. So delicious!
Do you like Indian food? If so you really should check out Sai Ram Indian Cuisine. We stopped in for lunch and everyone enjoyed their selections. The soup that they started is with was quite good and that was followed up by more good food.
I think I'm really surprised that Sai Ram is a solid Indian place and it's in Appleton. I had a couple things and both were great. The service was super on point to. I'd definitely come back. @dietproof
Great food, friendly service and the quality stands out.
I did take out on couple of occasions and this place didn't disappoint. The food taste, quality and service was consistent.
I like the Indian breads this place offers - Naan garlic, onion and ginger versions and they all seem to be great.
Curries we tried Veg Makhani and Baingan Bartha are very flavorful and well made.
They have good Appetizers as well.
I would say, you cannot go wrong at this place.
After a long time visited this place again for lunch. Impressed with the taste this time. Ordered Aloo chat, the serving size is huge, didn’t expect that of. Found lunch $10 lunch with two entrees and rice. Couldn’t finish the food. Gave 4 stars because of biryani, it’s not how it tastes.
It is pulav.
This is a fine Indian restaurant with decent ambiance. Our piping hot dishes were excellent, and the service was great. Chicken masala was available with dark meat. There is also a nice selection of vegan offerings if my daughter is in town. We will be back again for the bold flavors and proper rice.
We ate at Sai Ram one of the first times 18 years ago when our oldest was just the size of a grain of rice. We started calling them Basmati that night. 18 years later they enjoy the food with us and their sister. The food seems to have only gotten better. Wonderful place, with amazing authentic food.
Makhani is super good. Their food is consistently great. I moved to Milwaukee 3 years ago and always try to figure out a way to stop by Sai Ram for a meal when I’m in the Fox Valley area. Some of the best Indian food in Wisconsin.
I order from here often and it is always absolutely delicious! Not to mention, service is great. Today, what I ordered did not match up to what I received (this is rare). I called the restaurant and they were very apologetic and quick to fix it. I had ordered the item I was missing via EatStreet and they went above and beyond to remedy the situation. They truly are the best here, not only their food but also their service! 15/10 recommend for your Indian food cravings!
