My husband and I frequent this restaurant for their casseroles so we were really sad when their old location was damaged and closed down. Really happy they were able to open a new location and the food is still great as usual. We typically get the kimchi casserole and it’s enough for us to have leftovers. New location also seems to be slightly bigger and has slightly more seating than their previous location which is great!
If you want decent Korean food, this is the place! I’ve been looking for places that make authentic traditional dishes (not the new fusion restaurants), and a friend recommended Tosokjib. I tried the Galchi gui and doenjang jigae. Both were delicious and the banchan was good too.
First time at the new location. Fantastic! They managed to upgrade the space without sacrificing the “hole-in-the-wall” charm!
We had Galchi Gui and it was fabulous!! The golden crisp skin is amazing!
And the seafood pancake might be the best one I’ve ever had! Loaded with choice bits of squid, octopus, crab…. Really good!
And their banchan game is top notch! I could eat just that!
I love the food here. My friends and I come here to celebrate special occasions. The food is delicious. This is a smaller dining establishment and doesn't have a lot of tables but it is definitely worth the wait if there is one. We Always enjoy the side dishes and the pa jeon. Our favorite is definitely the large shareable soups. Hope everyone checks them out
Great little, Korean restaurant for broiled fish, braised fish, steamed/boiled pork belly stinky soup and hand cut noodles .

The food is excellent but expect the usual rude / fake nice older Korean lady service.
The new location also doesn't serve hot water (only plastic bottle water ) and the gas burners are actually portable gel flames .

Between LA, NYC, Korea and Annandale, Tosokjib has the BEST kimchi jjigae. They don't water it down if you're not Korean. Their kimchi in and out of the soup's amazing. Whenever I'm feeling down, sick or need GOOD homecooked food, I go here for the kimchi jjigae. No where else makes it like they do. Tosokjib I feel is mostly known for their grilled fish dishes, which a lot of their customers order, and I'll also vouch for their mackerel. So good! Tosokjib just knows how to make simple Korean dishes and make it amazing. Their new location is also better for parking now, and also, now they have more tables!
First random date night since the start of the pandemic and To Sok Jip did not disappoint! The Bossam was so tender and melt in your mouth and the Seafood and Green Onion Pancake was savory and perfect. The banchan (the small dishes that come with your meal) were tasty and well prepared! The Bossam and the pancake are so large they can feed 4 to 5 people if you order both. So us two will be having left overs for the next few days.
The restaurant itself is very unassuming. I honestly don't think I would notice it as a restaurant if driving by. So glad I saw it on the map! Inside there are probably about 6 or 7 tables and we got luck that a group saw leaving so we got to be seated quickly. A wait quickly formed as we were eating.
Can't wait to come back! Mouthwatering and delicious!

Pro tip: let's just set the record straight, service is close to non existing here during lunch hours, but you can tell they are trying, so don't get frustrated .
If you are looking for authentic Korean cuisine in the National Capital Region, To Sok Jip is where you want to go. It's like going to your Korean grandmother's house for a meal. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and told to choose a table...there were only two left to choose from on a Friday during lunch and only about 8 or 9 four person tables total in the restaurant. The menu is fairly large and diverse. We tried a few popular dishes recommended on Yelp and they were really good. You get a ton of food here; so you may want to just order an appetizer and split an entree or be prepared to take leftovers home. We ended up doing the latter and look forward to another round of this fantastic food. :-)
The staff was friendly and patient with us as we had not dined here before and wanted to spend a little more time reviewing the menu. The food came pretty quickly...appetizer just a few minutes before the entrees. We would definitely comeback again. Thank you.
