I love this place, authentic Mexican food, they did some updatesin the resturaunt and looks good in there. I've been going here since it opened, the queso is the best!

Positive experience every time!. Food, service, prices, atmosphere, etc.... all really good! I grew-up in Buffalo with ETS and Mighty Taco, so I can't say that I really know authentic Mexican. That being said, I've been told by folks more experienced than I, that this place does extremely well in the category of "real deal" Mexican food! The staff and the service are great. I love the food, too! I enjoy recommending this restaurant to friends, and I will continue to do so.
Possibly the best Tex-Mex in Buffalo. No, it's not "authentic" Mexican -- I don't even know if that exists in Buffalo, but for cheap and cheerful Tex-Mex, you could do a lot worse than El Palenque. I've been coming here almost since they've opened and it's always filling and delicious. The tacos al carbone, chili relleno, quesadillas, and chimichangas are all wonderful. The queso fundido is also very tasty and garnished with fresh jalapenos -- a nice touch missing from other places. Very kid-friendly and quick service.

Take it from a Texan, this place is pretty good. I had the flautas and they were yummy. Spanish rice was pretty close to authentic. I knew it was a good sign when I walked in and the owner was speaking Spanish. I will definitely be back.
One of my favorite cheap eat stops. Amazing margaritas and above average food. A close buddy of mine who's parents are Mexican immigrants loves it and says its just as good as his moms cooking.
Went for the first time today. Dinner was very good. The waitress and manager were very attentive. Tried a combination plate so I could taste a few things and everything was great and authentic. The medium margarita was 24oz.! It was also good...not watery as in some places. Guacamole was excellent. I would highly recommend this place.

Great Vegeterian Combo Plates. I've visited El Palenque many times and love their vegeterian combo meals and drink specials. There is colorful decor, ample seating, I've never waited for a table and the chips and salsa that are served at each table are a nice snack as you wait for your meal to be prepared.
I enjoy the combos because they let you try a few new dishes every time you stop in. The tostadas and potato burrito are my favorites. The menu is quite large and meals are as authentic as any I've had in San Antonio or Austin. They also offer a nice selection of beer, wine, and Margherita pitchers.
I usually start off with fried ice cream before my meal is even served because its such a sweet treat that I can't get at any other local eateries. The only drawback is that they wont change any menu items, and often times I don't eat cheese, but this is just a minor inconvenience for me. I mean, if I went to dinner at a friend or relatives house I certainly wouldn't insist she add or omit ingredients just to suit me, and I try to have the same courtesy when I am in a restaurant owners "home".
Staff is always pleasant and never overbearing. They allow you to enjoy the ambiance and your company without constantly interrupting your meal, and that's a plus in my book. Very tasty and great decor.

Yummy!. I love this place. I have been going here since it opened. I am never disapointed. No matter what I order, I am very pleased. And it's pressed well to boot! Try this place!
I really enjoyed the Green Chili Enchiladas and the server was very friendly.
Could have added more meat and chicken to their combination fajita dish. For some reason it was very sparse and was mostly composed of bell peppers and onions. For the most part the food was very delicious and the dessert scrumptious.
