It was a pleasant experience! The dining atmosphere was very home like. We went as a very big group and one of the guys in charge I assume didn't seen too pleased. None the less they did manage to seat us together. The wait staff was very friendly and patient with our group. The food was delicious and worth the trip. Thank you to the guy who plays his guitar and sang for us Friends in Low Places. It turned out to be great time and I would definitely go again.

This is listed as a place you have to stop to eat if you are near there. It did not disappoint! The steaks were big and delicious. The sides were also good, but the desserts are amazing. We took our 4 layer slices of carrot cake and chocolate cake to go. These pieces of cake are HUGE and very good. There is something for everyone - live music, ice cream, gift shop, brewery and games in addition to the restaurant. We enjoyed it very much!

It was about a 30 minute wait to be seated but you can play games, have a drink at the bar, walk the patio or visit the gift shop, so it actually wasn’t too bad. We were seated upstairs and had a great view of the restaurant, and cooks, as well as the raised center for those willing to take on the 72oz challenge. I started off with some fried pickles and then got the 8oz center cut with cheesy broccoli and a Cesar salad, which was VERY filling. I didn’t get to try any dessert but they have quite a bit to choose from. All in all, a great experience, awesome atmosphere, friendly servers, and top notch food. Definitely stop and try if you’re in the area.

What a hoot! Go there for the experience, not necessarily the food. We went on a Wednesday, so there wasn't a wait. There were plenty of customers but the place is huge. As most everyone else, they sat us at the end of a very long "family style" table, but the waitress told us that we could move to the window table for 2. Free souvenir plastic cups for your water. The atmosphere is like a raucous movie western saloon. Those vying for a free 72 oz. steak are placed in the center at a raised table with prominent timers to mark their progress. You can see the steaks being cooked. Ours was a little tough but the ribs were good. Take the time to check out the Big Texan sign, the Big Tex Rex, and the multi-colored hotel rooms. And there's always the souvenir/gift shop,

We visited this spot for two reasons. First, it seems to be the most known restaurant in Amarillo, and second, we wanted to try out the real texan cuisine. The wait times at this location are insane, so it is better to make reservation ahead of time if possible. The employees are not the friendliest we encountered, but they are super busy, so its understandable. The menu is nice-looking, better than most places we visited. When we came in we were obviously going to eat meat, but they were out of T-bone steak, which is very unusual for such restaurant. The dishes we ordered were pretty good and fresh, but preparation takes quite a while, since the place was full. And it might not worth waiting such a long time to eat here. There is a lot of beer options in this location, and they even have small tasting glasses available. Overall, we had a decent experience here, especially since we simply drove through Amarillo. One suggestion, though, before trying the fried oysters, make sure you know what that really is…

I've been looking forward to visiting this place for years, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Dallas cut ribeye, rare, and it was excellent. For what I got I feel the price was a good value, but not cheap. The mountain oysters were very tasty as well. Staff was friendly and attentive. I'm not sure I need to come back, but I wouldn't say no if I was with someone who wanted to check it out.

This place is a fun tourist stop for families and groups. I loved the old time west/country feel. It's very old west saloon kind of environment. The calf fries/mountain oysters were amazing!! The house salad was also delicious. We both ate steak. The steak was bland without much flavor. I would get chicken fried steak as a choice if I went there again. Definitely a great experience. My sister and I were able to make a great sister moment at this restaurant. Their souvenir store inside is great and prices are fair. I bought like $100.00 worth of things for my kids and sister. Don't go through Amarillo and not stop in for a great memory of Amarillo, Texas

The Big Texan Steak Ranch certainly lives up to its name! After seeing many billboards, we decided to stop for lunch last week, and we were not disappointed. The closest thing to this that we can find at home is Texas Roadhouse, but The Big Texan is really so much better. The prices were good, especially the ribeye lunch special (which is what we both ordered). The food was great. The steak was extremely tender and tasty. The sides were great, too, especially the chili— you could tell it was homemade, packed with meat and flavor. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and the other employees in the gift shop area were friendly as well. This is a neat place to stop and take a look around, even if you’re not looking for a meal. There are a lot of Texas-themed gifts as well as some not specific to Texas. They also have a little bakery case there with some delicious and huge slices of cake (we tried the red velvet and it was honestly the best red velvet we’ve had in a while). There’s also an array of sugar cookies decorated with royal icing that also looked delicious, as well as ice cream and fudge.
