Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

Service was good, once we were seated the food arrived fast and the staff was happy to help with any request we made. Due to staffing the dining room was running at half capacity on the day we went so the wait time was about 45 minutes before we were seated which is the only reason I took off one star. The staff that was working was all very helpful and good at their respective roles and I would recommend that you come here foe breakfast any day of the week.

I called in order two patty melts. Was told would be done in 15 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later only to be ignored by host. I had to actually yell into kitchen area to get someone to wait on me. Then when I got back to motel which was only a minute away I found one of the patty melts was so saturated in grease the bread wouldn't hold together. When I called restraunt was told new food order would be ready for pick up in 20 minutes. I arrived. And this time I actually had to walk back in kitchen area to get someone to help but was told that it would be at least 20 minutes before order would be done. So I asked for a refund and was told I would have to wait for manager to come in tomorrow some time. After so stern words hostess decided she would refund price of one patty melt. Here is the good part she short changed me. Gotta love this younger generation poor service but sure can decorate their face with enough piercings to set off every metal detector in the state.

I always have a good experience at the Alex Perkins. The staff is very friendly and really does a great job in these trying times. They have had to deal with a lot and have wanted to work when a lot of people just wanted to collect money and stay home. I appreciate their dedication and hard work. Food is great also!

Was okay until we met our server. She tossed our menus on the table carelessly, but that’s okay, y’know? things happen. she had a bad attitude the whole entire order process. it took a little for our food but that’s understandable because there was multiple people with me. there was hair in my brothers meal, but they took care of it, except for the part where she should have taken the meal off of the bill. we got about $7 off the entire bill. not the greatest experience and definitely don’t feel welcome to come back.

First time visiting we were turned away from seating and told they were only accepting takeout orders due to understaffed issues even with a party sitting at a table eating. The rest of the dining room was empty. The second time a few weeks later, we arrived 40 minutes prior to closing and we were turned away due to closing early because they claimed to have multiple larger parties that came in recently. There wasn't anyone in the dining room and we were not offered a takeout option. The host was not very professional or friendly, wouldn't plan on going back unless staff are better trained and more professional.

Stopped in for breakfast on our way back to Illinois, only one person working, numerous people waiting to be seated, then we asked for 2 coffees and 2 waters, the server only brought the coffee then completely ignored us. When I confronted her she said are you my table then she only brought one of the 2 waters. I am a disabled veteran and I have pills that I have to take by specific time. Worst service we have had on this trip. I would highly recommend going to a different restaurant and you might get better service. There is no excuse for lack of attention to detail!

Two weeks ago today, I visited the Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in Alexandria, Minnesota for lunch. There was a 15 - 20 minutes wait. While waiting, more and more people came into the restaurant. Seating was slow, so the waiting area in front of the cash register was crowded. I went to the restroom. When I came back to the waiting area, a woman was passing out dessert samples. She walked passed me (I was facing her) to offer other customers some samples. Then she walked passed me again (to my rear) and went to back of the restaurant without ever offering me a sample. I didn't say anything that time (not knowing if anything would be done to my food if I did). ALSO, when I went to the register to pay for my food, the same woman was running the register. When I walked up, she had someone else ring up my bill. After I left the restaurant, I decided to call and ask for the manager. The manager answered the phone. After explaining what happened, she said was the one passed out the sample. I asked her if it was a coincidence that I'm a African-American (Black) man and everyone else were European-American (White) and the only one that was bypassed. She did tell me that she's not racist and that's not the way the company operates. But I was shown differently.
