Friendly service. Appeared to be a very slow day based on other reviewers. One dislike I have in this area is parking. Ordered the Pollo Francese and it came w/ side of Penne pasta. Both were very good.
Very busy up-beat restaurant. I ordered the swordfish and my wife ordered the Mussaka (sp?). The food was phenomenal, taste and temp was perfect.
Very good food, prompt service. If we are ever back in Va, we will visit here first!
Friendly. This place is a bit of an odd mixture, looking like a modern dinner with classic booths, a menu strongly pushing the pizza options, and a very eclectic drinks list. I’ve got to say it worked for me.
Pizzas were original, the Diavolo tasted way better than it looked: chorizo sausage, French fries(!) and runny egg, what an unexpected yet delicious combination; the Classico was also anything but classic Italian pizza, great tasting and both with an excellent chewy base. Good desserts too, my Limoncello was light and refreshing and the Chocolate Molten Cake had the required decadent melted centre. As for drinks I found this unusual English Cherry flavoured Ale. Not as good as a Belgium Kriek, but close enough. And full mark to the restaurant manager for his friendliness.
Never disappointed!. This place is still just as great as I remember the original place in Springfield, from the 1980's. The gyro is / always has been my favorite meal at this place. Service was fantastic, food was great! Love it!
Best Overall. I am new to the Alexandria area but have already made Delia's my favorite hot spot. The atmosphere is clean and modern. The food is extremely tasty, served quickly, reasonably priced and there is a nice variety. Oh and if you are going to try dessert don't miss out on the pear tart - it is super yummy without being too sweet. Lastly, if you find yourself sitting at the bar the drinks come with a friendly bartending staff who will try to accomodate your random drink desires.
Gyro. This gyro was very good. The meat was so tender and it was seasoned just right. Service was good this visit.
Birthday dinner. I found Delia's while searching through the list for Restaurant Week in Alexandria. Though I've been to the Hoffman theater many times I rarely eat in that area. I was surprised when the GPS took me to this area. The selection of food was excellent, the atmosphere pleasant - small but comfortable - with great service. The food was delicious; I wanted just about everything on the menu. On a side note, the restrooms were clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. I hate going to a great spot then find a terribly designed or filthy restroom. Who ever designed the layout of the restaurant did a very good job. I highly recommend and would definitely return.
Good food but loud bar patrons later in the evening. Great wind selection.
Dinner and a Movie. Delia's is ideal for dinner and a movie because it is located feet away from the AMC Hoffman 22 theater in Alexandria. Plus, there is tons of free parking. The ambiance is romantic (get a booth), the noise level is moderate, but the food was just ok. We had the margerita pizza with green peppers and chicken and it was good if you're hungry, but not something I would necessarily have to have again. It does have a wider Italian menu, so if I do go back I may try the pasta or another dish. The service was excellent and the drinks, especially the pomegranitie sangria, were pretty good.
The True Story..... Bill Barrack must have an agenda.....My husband and I were unfortunate enough to be sitting outside next to him and his party of 8....then 10....then 12...men that took-over the patio lastnight.
I told a co-worker today that the food lastnight was wonderful, but there was a group of men that came and started taking tables from everywhere on the patio to accomodate their group. Then more showed up and they just walked over and grabbed tables from around my husband and I.
Later in the afternoon my co-worker told me she looked Delia's up on Urbanspoon. She mentioned that a man left a negative review from a large group that was on the patio. I looked at the photo and recognized the man as one from the group lastnight. I had to set the record straight once I read his review. His reviews are just not honest, including that he said the server "Barked" orders to them, they were so loud it would have left him no choice. We found the server very soft spoken, and he did a good job with such unruly people.
My husband and I will be back, the food and service were very good and it's a perfect location next to the movies!
